Anchia Gets Super Bowl Seat — at the White House

State Rep. Rafael Anchia won't be on the 50-yard line for Sunday's Super Bowl in Arlington. But some could argue he's got the next best seat: at the White House with Barack and Michelle Obama. (Did we mention J-Lo and Marc Anthony will be there, too?)

"I was surprised and honored to be invited to the President and First Lady's Super Bowl party at the White House," Anchia, D-Dallas, said by phone from snowy Dallas this morning. "Did I mention I was surprised?"

Anchia said he doesn't have a dog in Sunday's Super Bowl fight — he's a Cowboys fan through and through. (Neither does Obama, who is a Chicago Bears fan.) Now Anchia's just hoping DFW Airport's runways are clear in time for his Saturday departure. "I just want to see a good game," he said. 

Anchia will be in high-profile company. Also on the RSVP list are Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and U.S. Trade Representative (and former Dallas mayor) Ron Kirk. Appropriately, a few lawmakers from Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are also on the guest list.

"Let's just say I didn't have any idea this was coming," Anchia said. "It's very generous."
