Almost 25 years after its start, Teach for America has gone from a scrappy challenger of the status quo to part of the national educational establishment. Founder Wendy Kopp, who graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, talked with the Tribune about why she's (generally) positive about the direction of public education in America, how budget deficits in states across the country have changed the way TFA operates, and how Texas school districts should cope with the deep funding cuts they're facing.
