With population growth and water demand expected to accelerate in the coming years, water regulation in Texas is evolving, with emphasis on the state's 16 planning regions. Demand for water is expected to increase from 18.4 million acre-feet per year to 21.6 million acre-feet between the years 2020 and 2070. (Denton Record-Chronicle)
