Banks of the San Marcos to Be Restored

Banks of the San Marcos River are being restored as part of a broader push to protect the Edwards Aquifer as well as endangered aquatic wild rice, according to YNN Austin. The city of San Marcos has also authorized adding access points to the river that won't damage river banks. "We're helping the endangered species so that they're healthier than they used to be,” said Dianne Wassenich of the San Marcos River Foundation. “So that during drought periods, when the river gets really low, it will help them survive better."
