Classrooms remained open on Tuesday in Chicago after teacher union leaders and the city hammered out a last-minute tentative contract agreement. The tentative agreement addresses issues such as pensions, class size in kindergarten through second grade, and teacher layoffs and pension. The four-year agreement must be approved by the Chicago Teachers Union House of Delegates and voted on by its full membership. (Chicago Tribune)
