Vocational Courses Leave Girls Behind, Research Says

Researchers say female graduates are often excluded from career-and-technical education programs because of social stigmas and industry prejudices.

Vocational training, now typically referred to as career-and-technical education, or CTE, is a popular option for communities with access to well-paying manufacturing or similar blue-collar jobs. But while those programs have proven beneficial for male students, researchers say female graduates are often excluded from them because of social stigmas and industry prejudices. (The Atlantic)
