How long you live and how healthy you are could depend in part on where you live, according to county-level data released by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. Our interactive shows life expectancy, obesity rates and levels of physical activity by county, according to new findings the institute released in June.

It's good to know we're not mooching off Social Security much

That's quite a contrast between Austin and San Antonio, and "fittingly" perhaps San Marcos is somewhere in between. Interesting.

Hmm. Live in a more red, less educated county, die younger. I wonder if there's any correlation?

Ill stick by my comments and re-emphasize the need for education.

I wonder about the amount of error in the measured level of physical activity. It is almost certainly self-reported.

Bill, even self-reporting obeys the law of averages.

Nothing to indicate quality of life in this study. Out in the small towns and rural areas you see older people still living in their homes, driving and living life. In the big cities they are locked up in retirement homes from hell, left to die.

Beeville is a killer place to live....

Midland County is oilfield country and the level of activity here is probably not accurate during the boom, it could be during the bust.I feel the malathion that they spray on the bowl weevils, that settles in the dust then gets kicked up and blown in and breathed by all during the dust storms is a major cause of the disease that does not get reported.
