Senator Tommy Williams was first elected to represent SD-4 in 2002 after serving three terms in the Texas House of Representatives. Williams serves as chairman of the Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee. He serves on the Administration, Senate Finance, State Affairs, and International Relations & Trade committees. He was also appointed to the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting.
He is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and by special appointment of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, serves as a member of the Legislative Audit Committee, the State Preservation Board, and The Energy Council.
Williams is a native Texan born in Marshall. He attended schools in the Marshall Independent School District and graduated Texas A & M with a B.B.A. in accounting. He began his professional career in industry and public accounting prior to entering the insurance and financial services field in 1983. He now serves as president of Woodforest Financial Services, an affiliate of Woodforest National Bank.
Williams and his wife, Marsha, have two sons.
