John C. Otto is the representative of Texas’ House District 18, first elected in 2005. The district includes Liberty, San Jacinto and Walker counties.
He is serving as the chair of the Appropriations Committee. He previously served on the Ways and Means Committees and the Redistricting and Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.
In his first term he was named "Republican Freshman of the Year" by members of the Texas House of Representatives, "2005 Freshman of the Year" by the House Republican Caucus, "Most Valuable Freshman" by Capitol Inside, and "Rookie of the Year" by Texas Monthly.
He is a certified public accountant and received his accounting degree from Texas A & M University. He is a member of the Texas Conservative Coalition and lives in Dayton with his wife Nancy.
