Byron Cook is the representative of Texas’ House District 8, fist elected in 2002. The district includes Anderson, Freestone, Hill and Navarro counties.
Cook is serving as the chair of the State Affairs Committee and is a member of the Calendars Committee. Cook previously served as chair of the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and the House Committee on Civil Practices, as well as the vice-chair of the Local and Consent Calendars and a member of the committees on State Affairs and Calendars.Cook also previously served on the Sunset Advisory Commission.
Cook is a businessman and rancher. He and his wife Kay live in Corsicana and have two daughters. Their youngest daughter is a freshman at Texas A&M University and their oldest daughter is a graduate of Texas A & M University, is married and has a son.
