Video: Veteran Appeals Death Sentence

In 2010, Iraq war veteran John Thuesen was sentenced to death for the murders of Rachel Joiner and her brother Travis Joiner. Thuesen and his lawyers are appealing the sentence, arguing that had the jury been fully informed about the damage that post-traumatic stress wrecks on the minds of soldiers who face months on end of fear and horror, they would have imposed a life sentence instead of death. But prosecutors say that jurors had heard sufficient testimony about Thuesen’s military service and his post-traumatic stress.
