Porter, Weems Vie for Railroad Commission Seat
The two men battling for a spot on the Texas Railroad Commission go head-to-head — virtually — in the latest installment of our Face-Off video series. Watch as political novice and certified public accountant David Porter, a Midland Republican, debates Democrat Jeff Weems, an oil and gas attorney from Houston, on their respective qualifications for the job, whether there are enough pipeline inspectors and and the proper balance between environmental regulation and economic growth.

That was night and day! David Porter has absolutely no experience in the field besides doing paperwork. That is sad.
Great video! Kudos to TT!

Porter is far from eloquent, but he seems knowledgeable and thoughtful. That Weems guy just seems unbearable to be around. Nice work Elise!

What a great video!
It seems like Porter believes that nothing should change in the RR commission (or that it would take too much work to ask for more money, think of innovative ways to do things) and he wants keep the communities in the dark without access or communication from the RR Commission. Maybe he isn't taking this position seriously.
I think Weems is a breath of fresh air. He's certainly honest, direct and has the experience necessary to do this job well. As a Texan, I want to vote for someone who will fight for all of us and do what's right and fair for this industry that effects so many of our lives!

Really this guy beat Carrillo? That's really awful.

Doesn't really matter anyway. Weems has no chance. Statewide party crossover doesn't happen that far down the ballot. Welcome Commissioner Porter.
