Fraser Failed to Disclose Perry Land Deal
The lawmaker involved in a questionable land deal with Gov. Rick Perry failed to disclose ownership or sale of the property to the Texas Ethics Commission, an apparent violation of a state ethics rules, according to a review of his personal financial statements.
State Sen. Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay, didn’t list his September 2000 acquisition of the waterfront lot on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson in the disclosure form he filed for that year. He also didn't note a year later the fact that Perry purchased the property from him in 2001, the documents show.

Once again, your preferred "neutral" observers are actually leftwing activists. Public Citizen Texas is Ralph Nader's old operation - meaning, it's far left and by its nature hostile to anyone on the right. Democrat Jim Hightower is on their Board of Directors. And the Sunlight Foundation, to whom the Morning News turned and you cite uncritically from their story, is actually an Open Society Institute funded outfit. Open Society is also on the left, funded by George Soros. When you cite such groups as experts, you owe it to your readers to note where on the political spectrum these groups exist and what their purposes might be.

We've been told that all of the governor's investments are in a blind trust. Was this one of those investments? The purpose of a blind trust is to hide where investments are made so a person can be objective in his or her public life. But Rick Perry had his name on the Burnet County property tax rolls as owner--not very blind and not very hidden.
When they say all the governor's investments are "at arms length" in a blind trust, they are saying that some, but not all, of his investments are at arms length in which case they have overstated the case and that by "all" he means "some". This makes me wonder how many investments in the blind trust he has taken a peek at.
I guess it all depends on what your definition of "all" is, huh?

I have voted for Perry every time he has run for office. No more.
He has been there so long that he has learned all the old tricks and even developed some of his own, and his ego has grown so large that it appears that he is having a torrid love affair with himself.
We have lost him folks. It's now all about him and his big monied corporate friends. What's best for Texas in not on his agenda.
Forget about political party and vote for the man this next go round. Vote for Bill White.

10 years ago and as noted in the article when the laws were different and Fraser has been in office longer than that during which there have been other modifications. He has not had a challenger in at least 20 years and if you look up most of his voting record he is a fairly conservative State Sen.
