High-powered special interests groups may be interfering with the passage of legislation to reform Texas’ quasi-governmental insurer of last resort for coastal residents, the Texas Wind Insurance Association. "Too many special interests have their hands in it," said Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas.

The problem getting "lobby groups" out of legislation is that these groups are the representatives of the collective voice of constituents who want their opinions known. The only difference between lobbyists is the number of constituents represented. Ask any lobbyist for membership organizations what is one of the first questions asked by politicians. Their answer will be "What are your membership numbers?"

The problem being that the lobbyists for the insurance industry and the trial lawyers have far more influence and resources than any lobbyists who might be working on behalf of the CONSUMERS!

So, the real question is if you let TWIA knowingly deny deserved coverage or not. Perry sides with the insurance company. Go figure.

OK, common sense. If it is right for any one city to be a "sanctuary city" than why not the whole state?
No one or no group of cities should have this and not others. None or all.
