Video: KBH on "The Daily Rundown"
As part of his series on retiring members of the U.S. Senate, NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd interviewed outgoing Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, on this morning's edition of MSNBC's The Daily Rundown. She talked about the disappearance of the ideological middle — though she insisted "I am not a moderate" — as well as the "fundamental problem" with the Obama White House.

I thought she was a big government conservative.

KBH is a moderate. She certainly is not conservative nor a libertarian.

I used to really like this lady. She's kind of fizzled these last 4 years.

How batsh*t insane are Texans when a senator has to insist she isn't a moderate, even through she'll never stand for another election? It's time to put the crazy people back in the asylum where they belong.

I didn't realize being a moderate was something to run away from.

I live here...it's worse in person.

I gave up on KBH in the '90s when I realized she didn't even understand the definition of the word, "perjury." Painful to listen to her prevaricate all around that issue, depending of course on what one's definition of the word "is" is.

Isn't being moderate more about actually being able to work with the other side to actually accomplish things. Having to claim to not be a moderate is what has gotten us into this gridlock.

Hey Megan, When has any Democrat worked with the other side. The stimulus bill, Obamacare were both done in the dark of night and NOT ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN had any input. That's working with the other side isn't it?

Compared to John Cornyn and incoming Ted Cruz she does look like a moderate. Compared to Cornyn anyone looks moderate and honest.

Mac, you are just parroting things that just don't stand the light of day. In other words that's a lot of horse shit. Nothing was done "in the dark.". If care to research it, "Obamacare" is the same plan Republicans have promoted before.
Lies... .

Yup, the plan was pretty much taken straight from the Heritage Foundation.

When did moderation become a bad thing? Nah, we just want super polarized idealogues for our leaders. Our politics are ridiculous.

Could it be that moderation became a bad thing when (some) people embraced Ayn Rand's so called "virtue of of selfishness." She was so fearful of mob thinking she never evolved to interdependent thinking.

Now that Senator Hutchison is retiring from her tenure as Senator; the best thing that she can do for Texas and the country, is to tell the people of this United States what is going on in Washington. Her legacy as representative of the people of Texas is not that great. Some of us that know how Washington work understand her position on many of the issues, that is why she must expose the power of the insiders of the Washington establishment and how appointment to committees are done and by whom. Now she do not have nothing to loose and more to gain. The truth will get her the trust of the Texas people.
To serve with honesty and courage to tell the people the truth and vote for America, is what the people expect from their representatives.
