Updated: Texas Senate Candidates Take a Stand on Debt Deal
Updated 12 p.m. CST: Glenn Addison, a Texas businessman and another candidate in the running for Hutchison's soon-to-be-vacant U.S. Senate seat, announced he would have voted against the debt ceiling proposal that the Senate just passed. Addison said "production of smoke and mirrors is no doubt booming in D.C."

The only surprise is that one candidate blamed both parties for the debt. Why, that's almost liberal! Dewhurst talks about, "Obama's spending addiction." I see he got the talking points memo. I heard at least two other Repubs use that exact phrase on television today.

One of these people will have to deal with this same problem in 2012 unless something is done to correct the inadequacies of our budgeting and spending on "entitlement" programs and discretionary spending. By then, I hope that they will have something better to bring to the table than these political talking points. An idea or two would help...

So 4 Republican candidates heard from. Where are the Democratic candidates' responses? Are they not taking a position because like their brethren already in DC they prefer not to take a position on debt or is it just that they hadn't cleared any talking points yet with the DNC?

Our National debt will destroy our country. The only way that we can get out, of this economic catastrophe; is by reclaiming our economic infrastructure and manufacturing in our country.
We know that the down fall of our country is due to the so call, Free trade, for the last 40 year our country run trade deficits, years after years billions of Dollars in deficits, because the Washington politicians puppets of the elites of the multinational corporations, fail to take action to protect the jobs of the American people. Free Trade and outsourcing Americans jobs, made millions of Americans economic slaves; and this economic catastrophe. It is simple, no jobs, no income tax collected or money to expend in goods and services. Our country can not survive in handouts, food stamps and social service all this cost money that we don't have and we have to borrowed, Obama made millions of good American workers into parasites that are contributing to the down fall of our country. the people needs to march to Washington and demand to stop the outsourcing of Americans jobs, Free Trade and the enforcement of our immigration laws, because illegal aliens are taken American jobs. I will vote for any of the candidates that 1- will work and stop Illegal immigration and enforce our immigration laws 2- stop Globalization and free trade - 3 stop the making of the NAU 4- close the books on the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Is there not one sane person running in the Republican primary? Do they have even a rudimentary understanding of what it would mean to default? Each and every one of them has demonstrated their economic idiocy except for one. Stand back and watch the faltering economy as government spending is cut. What will be your response when unemployment hits 15% and you have no unemployment benefits. I've watched this video before during the 80's. Remove the energy industry and oil exploration from the Texas economy and see how successful Rick Perry's policies are. Apparently, there were plenty of "slothful" Texans during the 80's, as there were many who did not have jobs.
