Former Congressman Sentenced To Three Years
Judge Pat Priest sentenced former U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay today to three years in prison.
In November, a jury found DeLay guilty of money laundering and conspiracy charges related to his role in transferring corporate money to political candidates through his political action committee. The former congressman will serve three years for the conspiracy charge. Priest suspended a five-year sentence for the money laundering charge, instead handing DeLay 10 years of probation. He set bond at $10,000 per count. DeLay's lawyer Dick DeGuerin said he would appeal.
At today's hearing, DeLay's defense team submitted more ...

Justice is served. Now let us relegate this slimeball to the dustbin of history he so deserves. I wonder if his new cell mate/boyfriend will be a Republican. HAHAHA! Perhaps his new cell-mate will show him a new postion of Gay Rights!

Thats it? For all the damage he caused? Weak.

Politicians spend so much time being schmoozed by moneyed interests that they lose perspective. They identify with the schmoozers rather than real folk. They think they can't be held accountable like real folk. Judge Priest sent the right signal today. Powerful pols who cheat deserve less sympathy than high school dropouts who break into a car.

Be careful before making comments that you don't really understand all that went on because your lack of information will show your ignorance. There are more sides to this than just what the media tells you. Ronnie Earle made a career out of his hatred for DeLay. DeLay would never get a fair trial in Austin, TX but a democrat judge denied a change in venue. Tom DeLay did not break any laws. It's much more complicated than simple oneliners about politicians. Find out exactly what was done & then make your comments. Not mad or any such; just saying.

At what point do you accept that DeLay broke the law? Does it need to go to the Supreme Court before you'll concede?

I don't know that he did so much damage, and it certainly is no more than others have done. Personally, I hope he wins an appeal. I won't feel satisfied until they do something about the other crooks in govt. such as Charlie Rangel, Chris Dood, Barney Frank, etc. Seems to me that they have done far worse things, and just flaunt their power to get away with things. I feel like what they are really doing is to punish Texas for not going along with the Dems. Just how I feel as a Texan.

DeLay is a crook. Let's not sugar coat that fact.

Looks like "The Hammer" just got nailed for being a law breaker. (Blessings!)

This verdict will stand. The legal basis for appeal in this case will prove to be extremely weak.

What did he expecting...DeLay Adjudication? Looks like The Hammer's headed to The Slammer!

All the expected responses...as a former Republican who cast my first vote for DeLay proudly, and who left when the party lost their ability to act honestly, I am disappointed as bow obvious this one was. Tom is a crook, like a dictator, he redistribute Texas so that his party will have both immediate and permanent control. He illegally laundered money to candidates in opposite leaning districts. Look Republicans, we either apply the law equally or we should just admit we operate like a 3rd world country. @Shirley, if your comment was directly at me, you are preaching from your underwear.

All expected from his blind base... I meant to say. In their eyes, right wingers never do wrong
