Insiders on the Next Speaker and Running the House
Our first survey of the new year found the insiders united, agreeing strongly that Joe Straus will win another term as speaker, that the next speaker should include the minority party — Democrats, with 49 of 150 members — in committee chairmanships and other assignments and that the House Republican Caucus is the wrong forum for picking a speaker. Ninety percent of respondents said Straus will win, 89 percent said the GOP should share power with the Dems and 86 percent said the Caucus should not decide the next leader of the House.

Sure, OK. Then I guess we should just forget about the overwhelming LOSS that the Democrats just received during the election both in the state and federally. In what other area are the winners forced to share with the losers? Did the Democrats share power with the Republicans in the Federal Congress? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! And think about this. If the PEOPLE were really happy with what the Democrats were doing, would they have lost so horribly?

"...the GOP should share power with the Dems and the Republican Caucus should not choose the next leader of the the House." Now that's a bizarre position to take, since the Republicans have an overwhelming majority.
I wonder what these same readers would think were the relative positions of the two parties were reversed?

The people voted Republican because there is nobody else to vote for when the Democrats act like Republican and there is no money for other political parties to form. Then there is the obvious issue of electronic voting where we really don't know who in hell the "people" voted for.
