Obama: It's Going to Take More Than One Term
After an El Paso stop that focused on immigration reform, President Barack Obama used his second stop, in Austin, to talk politics with a sea of fellow Democrats and raise money for his upcoming re-election campaign.
“We’ve still got some climbing to do, so don’t take off your boots,” Obama said. “It’s going to take more than one term to get there.”

President Obama has done more to fix the US economy and international relations as well as taking out OBL this past week-end. His leadership is truly needed and warranted no matter what the Republican/TEA party say. We need to back him and get out the vote for Democrats! Granted President Obama has not done anything about immigration, but bear in mind he has been held in check by the Republican leadership during the last Congress and now also by the TEA party. The Democratic party had the "Dream Act" awaiting passage only to be stymied by the GOP. IT WAS NOT PRESIDENT OBAMA WHO SHOT DOWN THE DREAM ACT, IT WAS THE GOP! The 47% who rate the Democrats favorably is more than double the 21% who rate the Republican Party as doing a good job of reaching out. Its important to gather all the fact about both parties and assess past and present practices concerning Hispanics. The GOP would throw the lower and middle class under the bus as well as immigrants of Hispanic decent. To all Latino/Hispanics of voting age in America, Vote you conscience this coming year and let the apples fall where they may. You can't scream if you don't vote!

Laughing about immigration saying "I know, I know" shows that he does not know at all. That caviler attitude toward Latinos is the reason the Democrats lose to "I'd rather stay home than vote for that party that mocks us" time after time. Dems, do NOT blame us when you lose. If you can't get white people to vote for your mostly white candidates, why in the world should anyone else? Thanks for nothing.

@Rudy Gonzalez get your facts in order. If all Dems voted for DREAM, it would have passed. Obama deported more than any president in American history. Only a partisan without interest in evidence could argue that Democrats are policy advocates on immigration. Latinos with interests on this issue -- millions of them voters and citizens -- are worse off today than they were before he was in office. I'm no Republican, but I'm not blind either.

It may take him more than one term to completely level the economy and turn us ALL into government dependents, but you simply won't get it.
Of course, the Democrats in Austin could help out the President's 'vision' here- which includes fining businesses that hire illegals- by help pass out several of the EVerify bills currently stuck in committee. You have until tomorrow to get that done.

Most of us keep a sort of mental score card on any prez. We update it as events unfold, compare with what he said he would do, what we would have wanted, and what expectations were. Most of us probably share some min expectations on core competency, economic growth and opportunity, foreign relations, pursuing goals committed to in the campaign, etc.

Years yes but another four years of Obama NO! Both the republicns and the democrats have taken the ostrich approach to illegal aliens. None would take action to first secure the border. Both seem to be trying to buy the hispanic vote...especially the democrats who are credited with believing amnesty would mean a 12 million block vote for them. We cannot afford another emnesty program. We are still paying for the last one.
