Rachel Barrios-Van Os: The TT Interview
Rachel Barrios-Van Os is familiar to voters in Bexar County, where she ran unsuccessfully for county clerk in 2010, and to Democrats who know her as the manager of three statewide campaigns where her husband, David Van Os, was the candidate (twice for Texas Supreme Court, once for attorney general). In private life, she runs the family law firm.
Now she's running to be chairwoman of the Texas Democratic Party, an election that will take place at the party's state convention in Houston next month. In her campaign materials, Barrios-Van Os says she's "tired of defeatism ... low ...

You can not fix two face people and liars that would sell out there country to a socialist leaders like Obama mama and liberal democrats support illegal aliens over Americans. They also support homosexuals over American family's. Democrats also support muslum terrorist like hamas and muslum brotherhood. This is just a few reasons the democrats have lost there way and thought of mind democrats think this is okay and should go to Europe were they will fit right in.
Anyone but democrats for office!

So, Mrs. Van-Os is gonna re-make the democrats into a viable part in Texas. It's good to have goals, however, let me offer some observations on why this will not happen with her or any other lawyer, union activist looking for real job as a politician. 1. Lawyer, we already have tooooo many lawyers in government. 2 Union activist, well, after the fiasco of the Union thugs intimidating regular folks (union and non-union) in Ohio and Wisconsin and fake doctors excuses and better pay and benefits than taxpayers that pay their salaries and not cleaning up their mess, that won't fly either. Being from the Barrio; I have personally witnessed several thousand voter registration cards on the dash of a pick-up in a Barrio so she should know how to get elected in South Texas, call one of the relations to LBJ that are still around and flash some of that million bucks and she'll be a shoo in. Instead of doing some public service as a Democrat, or a Republican (not a dimes worth of difference in how the two parties govern), if you really want to "help the people", do some pro-bono work for some poor folks that are being screwed by the legal system that you are part of and have not done anything to clean up. To bad I don't vote as a Democrat, I'd be proud to help her get a little more tired of defeatism.

gypsy314: What is your hate achieving for our state or our country?
Marilyn B Herrera
To gypsy314 and G Hall: Rachel Barrios-Van Os is not a lawyer, she is married to one (a very fine gentleman who has been named a Texas Superlawyer several times, and they DO do pro bono work) and she runs a law office. The reason there are so many lawyers in office is that they know how to frame legislation and pass law. The Democratic Party is inclusive so everyone is invited to the table, no matter how much money you have. I cannot recall a single Texas Union incident involving "Union thugs intimidating regular folks". Gypsy and G, you both sound like very unhappy people and I hope you vote, instead of just armchair quarterbacking. G, what are you doing, or have done, "to clean up?" If you can't say something positive and edifying, what say it at all? Put your passion to work and help out instead of trying to tear down someone who is trying to do something for our State.

I hope this interview is printed in th El Paso Times like the one for Mr. Hinojoso was.

GREAT INTERVIEW!
I completely agree with the comments made by Marilyn! Both Rachel and her husband are fine folks. Who do pro bono work and stand up with and for the Union.
@G Hall- Being from South Texas, I take offense to your post. In the recent years the valley has grown and is progressing. I'm not sure what Ohio or Wisconsin have to do with Texas.
@ Gypsy314ne-I understand everyone has a right to their opinions but I was raised by my folks the right way..."If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."...
