Hank Gilbert Was Included in Tribune/UT Poll
Occasionally, there appear to be a few misconceptions about the methodology of Polimetrix/YouGov. In order to improve upon some of the well-known issues with traditional phone surveys, they have developed a methodology by which you can identify and interview a representative sample online (see appended information for details).
But one of the keys to this approach is to have a very large pool of people from which you can "match." Polimetrix/YouGov currently has well over a million people in their online pool. To get a large number of people with diverse age, income, educational, ethnic, and racial backgrounds ...

Sorry, you have been sucker punched right out the gate. Internet polling is a joke and Hank GIlbert's press release this morning says it all.
A fool and his money are soon parted. Mr. Austin Ventures there is no better example of this than this ego trip you are taking your money on.
You paid $57,000 for poll results no one believes. HA!

I don't mean to lambast you on the first day: just some constructive criticism. You really need to get some RSS feeds for at least the blogs. From the looks of it there are about three of the blogs that I would have added to my reader if I could have: it's how I consume most of my news. I think this is a great venture, but I think you'll lose out on consumers without some RSS feeds.

I think the Tribune has been had.
The big difference between legitimate polls and this type of 'online' poll is the whole starting-point universe of people who volunteer to 'participate'.
In phone polls, at least pollsters start with a list of phone numbers of registered voters. This 'poll' starts with a universe of anonymous email addresses from the internet. For all anyone knows, there are people claiming to be from Texas who are really from New Jersey. Teens who want the 'merchandise' you offer for participating, but can't vote for years. People who have multiple accounts who claim to be 'registered' voters -- as Republicans, as Democrats, as Independents, as 18-year olds, as seniors, as men, as women, etc.
Having "millions of participants" makes absolutely no difference. I've been a member of those 'polled' for Polling Point for years. I know -- I have several accounts--each with it's own 'persona'. You cannot start with garbage and expect to provide valid , legitimate results.
