Returns Show Bill White Lost Montague County
It might take the Hardy Boys to solve The Mystery of Montague County.
Here’s the set-up: Former Houston Mayor Bill White won Tuesday’s Democratic gubernatorial primary handily, with nearly 76 percent of the vote. In doing so, he won every county except one: Montague.
The overwhelmingly Anglo far north Texas county — it sits on the Oklahoma border — wasn’t won by the statewide second-place finisher, hair care magnate Farouk Shami, or even by the third-place finisher, Fort Worth educator Felix Alvarado. Montague was bagged by San Antonio physician Alma Aguado, and it wasn’t even close. Aguado ran ...

Because Montague County residents believed Aguado to be the best man for the job.

Could it be voting machine error?
There's a big brou-ha-ha currently over smart meters, with folks complaining about high electricity bills, so much so that Sen Troy Fraser asked the PUC to order they stop being installed.
Oncor and Centerpoint have accepted to have their meters tested independently to make sure there is no flaw.
But voting machines have no such oversight. Could it have been a software glitch? Hardware failure? Without paper ballots to back up the DRMs, there's no way to know, is there?

Republicans crossing over en masse to try to force a run-off between White and Aguado. Or voting machine error.

I vote for the relative theory - I could see a determined, southern grandparent/parent/great aunt type person "getting out the vote" to the tune of 255 people

I know I can't win since I have two guesses, but here goes anyway.
First, the vote counting was subcontracted to the inmates of the Montague County Jail.
Second, the vote counting was subcontracted to the jailers of the Montague County Jail.

"Montague County Clerk Glenda Henson, who verified the numbers,"
What problem? In the face of the obvious, the oblivious run the asylum.

Because she's prettier than White. She's got hair - and lots of make-up and big boobs. Makes her appealing to both male and female voters.
And maybe she actually visited Montague County. 90% of life is just showing up.

The 225 were probably Republican crossovers just having a little /fun' to baffle media and Dem. pollsters!

If I had to guess, and it isn't a machine glitch, then I'd think perhaps someone in one of the down-ballet races handed out a bunch of pre-filled ballots and didn't really care about what was going on at the top of the ballet. They handed out a few hundred of those to people who also didn't really care, and they voted accordingly.

It's the economy! It is always the economy. Pocketbook issues! bailouts, electric deregulation, etc. Remember what Bill Cosby as Heathclif fHuxtable said, " They come for the regular people first." Montague county is regular people. That has got to be the reason.

Inocent TEXANS how nahive you are....The Voting computers were programed incorrect!!!! it supposed to be programed to favor Bill White. This is just to warn you of voting FRAUD. The rest of the counties's computers work well even the ones on the border with Mexico, all the rest of the pre-programed computers work well and that is the reason Bill White won except the one in Montague.........REPEAT the election.
Manipulation of the election started since exclusion of Aguado from the Democratic debate, White paid 6dollars per vote Aguado paid 20cents per vote Shami paid 120 dollars per vote, The media has to do the complot and decrimination against two mexican-american candidates for governor, Kera public televison choose Shami as a candidate with most potential, He was used as an elephant to Hide Aguado from State exposure, nobody knows Aguado in Montague. FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD.
