Perry Adviser Says Governor Will Run for Re-election
Ken Armbrister, Gov. Rick Perry’s legislative director, told a crowd on the University of Texas at Austin campus Tuesday that his boss had told him he had decided to run for re-election in 2014 — a definitive statement that seemed to put to rest speculation over the longest-serving Texas chief executive’s future.
But a spokeswoman for Perry quickly rebuffed the statement from her colleague, saying “the only person to make that announcement is Governor Perry.”
“He has said multiple times he will make [the decision] after the legislative session,” Catherine Frazier said. “That door is open. He wants to ...

Of course he is, why would he give up on his cushy government job where he doesn't actually have any responsibilities but has enough publicity and "name" that he can yell at people and promote himself for another presidential election bid in 2016?

He and his party need to leave. They have pushed many pieces of legislation that harm many actual citizen's. The continue with their privatization of roads - which is a Profits for Companies and Cost to Citizen's - which is a huge problem down the "road".

Perry needs to go in 2016.

Hopefully his endorsement of Dewhurst over Cruz comes back to bite him in the ass.

Can you say dictator?

As a Republican, I'd vote for the green party candidate over seeing Perry re elected. Anybody but Perry. Period.

I think Ron Kirk should run. He's a pro business moderate Democrat. Unfortunately he's pro Abortion and tainted by serving the ObamaNation.

See, Billy...I thought you were reasonable and appreciated your willingness to look outside your own party for a good candidate. Then, you just couldn't make your own self stop talking .

Let's not forget that the Governor is already drawing retirement pay in addition to his state salary. I suspect he could be governor for life, if he wants it. It goes to the old adage that we get the government we deserve.

no one is 'proabortion'

and Perry has single handedly denied thousands of woman healthcare because he is "prolife".

Doesn't it seem like a glaring oversight that we have no term limits?

How about Sean Hubbard for Governor?

Let's hope someone runs against him worth voting for!

Perry isn't "pro-life" - he is "pro-birth" - big difference.

Good luck because I hear George P Bush is going to run for something in 2014. TX will turn blue by 2014. So good luck with that GOP. That is why he "Gov Perry" is saying he wants to lower or freeze college tuition here.

Billy Riddle no one is pro abortion. People are pro choice. TX will turn blue in 2014, if not this election. We are tired of the politicians who are against us and for greed.

I think Joaquin Castro, Mayor of San Antonio, would be an excellent choice for Governor. Perry is no longer an asset to the republican party or the state of Texas.

If you don't like him AND can find a candidate that is better, feel free to vote for him. In the grand scheme of things, Perry is pretty harmless. He doesn't do anything really *good*, but he doesn't do anything all that *bad* either. Basically, he does nothing and with politicians, that's the best you can hope for usually.

Oh . . . joy.

Everyone sounds so positive on Perry's announcement to run... Lol...

I recall Lowell Thomas, the great author, broadcaster and explorer, saying from time to time that the art of giving a good speech is knowing when to sit down. He suggested that the speaker should leave the audience wanting more. Has Governor Perry has lost his sense of timing?
After serving in any public office, especially for a long time, wouldn't it be wonderful if elected officials would keep their eyes open for young, bright and energetic people who have the tenacity and ingenuity to tackle the myriad of complex problems facing our government? Part of the job of a good leader is to inspire such people and bring out their best. If they can bring in such people to carry our great country forward, then they will have left a rich legacy. After all, Republican, Democrat or whatever other party, government is the common denominator of all who are served by that government. It is critical that one be effective at uniting people and developing bandwidth of knowledge and understanding to achieve harmony and balance. What legacy will Governor Perry leave for Texas?

I hope he can fix the illegal alien thing before next run or he may come up short. Texans want the borders secure and illegal alien off and out of our schools and welfare system. They need to get in line and come here legally not jump to the front of the line because they broke our laws and have no concerns about our laws except what they can get out of America. Texas and America does not know who in the hell is here and as it stand now the illegal aliens do not have to obey our laws thanks to democrats and Obama. Americans have a chance to send a strong message to democrats and Obama send them packing this November for good.
