Updated: Perry Could Run Again, Adviser Says
Updated:
Perry adviser Ray Sullivan said the Texas governor will not rule out running for re-election — "as you know, we don't have term limits in Texas" — or even running for the presidency in four years.
"Keep in mind that almost all of our nominees in the last 50 years have been on their second attempt at the White House, so Republican voters tend to like experienced candidates that they’ve seen for a long time,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan said he learned of the governor's decision at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at a Wendy's restaurant.
“He told ...

Celebrations today on the STOP PERRY NOW campaign front.
If Perry follows through on his announcement this column of resistance will stop all posts and will speak kindly of Mr. Perry going forward. O.K. maybe in the way one talks about a cousin who is a little daft...
The net result is celebrations later today are in order. There will be alcohol and Strawberries involved. This is appears to be a great day.
It will be up to Texas to stop the remainder of Perrys crime family, this column has no axe in that fight...

What took so long? Now Dewhurst will not get that bump in salary for doing nothing? What about the $$$ for security? Is he retired now? So many questions to be answered and I suspect taxpayers will not like the answers!

It would be nice to know how much Texas taxpayers have spent on this ridiculous effort to be the president on this country.

Perry's a victim of the Terrorist Leaders of Turkey.

Will Perry's top campaign advisors try and get jobs with the candidate he's endorsing? 'Cause that could be awkward.

Dang it,we are stuck with Perry for three more long years,I wish we could recall him,but can't,but Perry
probable doesn't know that either.I guess it would be cruel to send him back to Paint Creek
milking goats and slopping hogs, because he can't tell them apart.Newt might make a good war
President, because his bad breath would make us have WMD'S,and if he were to break wind all I can
say is to make sure he doesn't eat any beans.
sssdddd
It is 10:01 am, has he quit yet?
Dale Curry
A failed campaign for a failed Governor. Now just how much $ is left in his campaign chest that he will now be pocketing?

I'm so glad Rick Perry is finally pulling out, even if he stayed in way too long. I did not like him for 3 key reasons. 1) He is a complete idiot that embarrassed 4 out of 5 Texans. 2) He does not have the know how to operate a real estate transaction honestly, much less a whole state or country, and 3) Um...Oh crap, what was 3...oops.
Tim Tukaram Spotswood via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Best political decision he ever had made for him. And it took long enough!

Now if only all of them would drop out.

He's already drawing Texas state retirement benefits, so now would be a golden opportunity to actually retire from the Governorship as well.
Susan Shelton
Does he have any campaign cash left? If so, how does it get spent? It will be interesting to see how this money trail plays out.

Susan Parker Mitchell via Texas Tribune on Facebook
He's got his millions in campaign funds to further his greed - he'll be fine - just wish we in Texas didn't have to take him back.

At least he will not be our next president. Hopefully he will be voted out as our Gov. next time.
Bologna Vest
Last laugh could be on us if he decides to run for Gov again.
Jerry Andrews
I would like to the Texans have enough common sense to know what they've really got as a Governor. Up until now, Perry's done a miraculous job of not debating, not taking questions from journalists and intelligent folks, and keeping under wraps his now well documented inability to speak off the cuff or speak intelligently about anything not on script. That is over. It took national scrutiny for us to learn what we've had as our Governor for the last 10 years. Folks who really followed politics already knew, but now, Bubba Tex knows.
Frances Demps via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Come on back to Texas. Although you've revealed yourself to be a complete dolt, we'll re-elect you. And, you won't even have to debate!
Bea McGuire via Texas Tribune on Facebook
I'm hoping that in the next gubernatorial election, people realize that to be paid for retirement, you should be retired and not make the mistake of voting him yet another term! That would show him what the people paying for his retirement AND salary think of his "estate planning".
