Rick Perry Says Voters Want More Options in GOP Field
Gov. Rick Perry, in New York for a speech that’s fueling speculation about a possible run for the White House, said Tuesday that voters seem hungry for more candidates to pick from in the presidential contest.
Perry is still undecided about his own prospects, but the explosion of interest in his potential candidacy has led the Texas governor to conclude that voters want more choices in the still-unsettled field. Perry made the remarks in a Texas Tribune interview hours before he delivers a highly anticipated keynote address at the Manhattan GOP’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner.
“It’s pretty ...

Yeah, but he speaks like a wimp and won't debate. Who owns that plane? Halliburton?

Perry is the hopeful solution to counter the fear of Ron Paul getting in the White house. It may work.

He's just enjoying all the media attention. Everyone knows he's made up his mind already.

Really think the nation wants another Texas cowboy after the last one was there for 8 years? Is the TEA Party that desperate?

He can't even seem intelligent when he pretends he doesn't know anything.Yikes, the nightmare continues.....

Come to think of it,there's a whole bunch of things he most likely has to pretend he knows, cares(especially with regard to charity donations) about. We're,unfortunitely, part of his "pretend" life.

So, once he's finished the transformation of Texas into a third world economy, with decent education and health care reserved for those who can afford them, he will spread his vision to the rest of the nation. Lovely.

Jen: I don't think anyone fears Ron Paul getting anywhere near the White House.

He will not get my vote! Being that he is not willing to VETO Texas House Bill 1451. He claims he is for smaller government and less spending. This bill sets up another government regulatory board and spends over $500,000 in Texas tax dollars. We cant afford teachers and medical care for children and the elderly but can regulate dog and cat breeders. Really????.... He is just another politician that will tell anyone who is in front them what they want to hear.

Scott:I thought texas had one of the best economies in this country?

He's focused on the special session? Seven days in a week and he's spending four or five of them out-of-state.

@Erika I knew Bush was born a yankee but I do not think they ever claimed him. :)

Erika: Texas ranks in the bottom five (when not ranking dead last) in a number of key metrics for socio-economic well being. You can't get worse than the bottom, except under Perry's governance the margins between Texas and those states that rank above us has widened dramatically. While that is not entirely his fault, it is directly related to policies he supports (policies that were enacted before Perry, but ones that he continued).
The one item that Perry (and his supporters) continues to point to as a "healthy" Texas economy has to do with jobs. Perry says Texas still creates jobs above the national average. He isn't completely incorrect about that, but his claims are misleading. Texas is not creating middle-income or upper-middle-income jobs. The vast majority of jobs that are being created are minimum wage, part-time, without benefits, etc. They count as "new jobs created" on the balance sheet, but they do not help the economy in any meaningful sense, nor do they help rebuild the crippled employment market.

The media needs to stop being his cheerleader (he can do that himself) and go back to
pseudo-journalism. It's much less nauseating.

Let's see if I understand this: Perry says he "is focused on the Special Session" going on now. That session is in Austin. Perry is in California, New York and a bunch of other places. Time is running out in the 20 days the Governor has after the end of the Regular Session to sign, veto or let bills go into law without his signature. As such, you would think the Governor would be reviewing those bills with this staff and others. But, Perry is "foused on the Special Session"....But he is way away from Austin...Now, let's see about that again--Perry is "focused on the Special Session" (sic).

idiot, they want more choices, not another damned clown college dropout who thinks he hears God calling him to lead us from the wilderness...
