Rick Perry Fires Up GOP Voters in New Orleans
Gov. Rick Perry, who has acknowledged thinking about running for president in 2012, fired up Republican voters Saturday in New Orleans, where conservative activists were anxious to hear a game plan for beating Barack Obama.
“There’s a party in New Orleans!” Perry shouted when he took to the stage before a boisterous crowd in the ballroom at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel, where the Republican Leadership Conference wraps up Saturday night. Texas first lady Anita Perry and aides were watching the speech near the stage.
The longest-serving Texas governor stuck to the familiar anti-Washington attacks and his belief ...

For someone who hasn't made a decision to run, he sure is working hard at what looks to be running. Too bad he isn't in Texas doing his job that the tax payers pay him for, instead he is out "book signing." Wonder if Texas will have to foot the bill of him running all over the country campaigning on our time, like we did with the last governor who didn't resign while running for President.

As a freedom-loving who has watched a mere 800,000 private-sector jobs created in the last two years, I take offense to that! Now, if our Governor would only focus on making sure his state's private-sector jobs paid more than minimum wage and on saving public-sector jobs (teachers).......

Rick Perry has 1,170 pieces of Legislature either awaiting his signature or a veto stamp and three days to make the choice, but he is out of town......traveling ??? Rachel Maddow lifts baloney and says "Let this be what you think of when somebody tells you how awesome Rick Perry made the economy of Texas." Please watch..... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show/#43447838 She further continues... "No other state was more dependent on stimulus funds than Texas under Rick Perry; Texas has the highest proportion in the country making minimum wage, nationally the median minimum wage is 12.50, and the highest portion of people with no health insurance more than 1 in 4 in Texas have no health insurance; yet Perry wants to opt out of Medicaid and Texas just passed a bill to kill medicare; AND on the same day Perry asked for stimulus funds he set up a petition online stating no Government bailouts- the same day he endorsed 6.4 billion in stimulus money in 2009 and that money filled in 97% of the Texas budget short-fall that year. ~To balance his budget"

All my respects to Vets, I hold them in the highest honor. But why is Perry being labeled arrogant when he is assertive and Obama is labeled a leader because he feigns character when he speaks with other leaders. He got his rear handed to him by Nethaniahu the Prime MInister of Israel and all he could muster with quivering lips was "We agree to disagree". what a lame piece of presidential muttering and its not the only time, every time he is upstaged he fakes like he is paying attention and in control, the Media makes up the rest.Wow, that is beyond belief.

The mix of corruption and cruelty that guides the Perry administration is a tragedy for all Texans and a potential tragedy for every living creature on the planet.

Isnt there an administration from Chicago that defined corruption and has it not consisted of constant photo ops at the White House and around the world. Arent Liberals supposed to be so open-minded, wheres all the poison coming from? Might it be that the people who preach tolerance for every single thing cannot tolerate anyone disagreeing with them or running things better than them? As Aaron Tippin would say:You gotta stand up for something or you'll fall for anything." Democrats seem to be following like blind mice and not standing for anything, just against anyone who disagrees with their Mamby-Pamby world view.

A career politician firing up the lame brained! Perry is a career politician who had led Texas's Social Conservative Libertarian Legislature for over ten years and drug Texas down the tubes.

I agree with KingCranky: Republican policies have brought about a $27 billion deficit here in Texas, and since they hold ALL the political power in this state-such as every statewide elected office-Democrats can't do a thing to stop them, which means that budget deficit is ALL on the GOP.
Did you know one can get rich running for president? Look at Palin, Perry, Gingrich. They all became millionaires on the public dole, Taxpayer money. These people are in it for themselves and they're taking to the bank - at our expense!

Okay, what’s Perry’s hidden agenda? There was a full frontal attack on all levels of education this session. To no avail, leaders from TBA’s Bill Hammond and actor Tommy Lee Jones to Bobby Inman were calling for much more dedicated to helping kids. Perry’s changes are permanent. At the public school level supportive services will end so expect more dropouts in a few years and jails begin filling up. I used to think Perry was just creating an opportunity for charter schools but now I can only conclude a more sinister motive. We’re seeing a new form of George Wallace racism that fits nicely for those who already hate Obama. Ending good schools will push people into the charter and parochial schools and there goes the support for education. Playing on the lousy economy and demographic changes I can only conclude Perry wants to take us back into the segregated 50s. Who ever thought we’d see those days again? Where was the outrage by parents, community leaders and the law?
Peggy Thompson via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Really! This is going to exhausting.

What a surprise! All of you liberals hate Perry. Guess what, I wish the lot of you would pack up and move to a liberal state. Liberalism will be the death of this nation, and I sure don't want it to be the death of Texas. Go to California or Washington state or NYC, but please just go away. Texas has never been a place for liberals. This is a state for freedom lovers, something liberals have no concept about. Many of you are here probably strictly to live off of our liberties and economy. Liberalism has killed the economy in other states. Go home. And if you are a native Texan but are a liberal, then you have very skewed thinking and need some help.
Native Texan
@jtp51,
Your thinking is all wrong. It is not the fault of the Governor of Texas if kids drop out of school. It is the strictly the fault of THOSE kids and their parents. This is the problem with the nanny-state thinking of liberals. Government is the answer to all things in the mind of liberals. That is horrible logic. Government is the answer to NOTHING. Individuals are their own answers and the solution to their own problems. You are trying to throw money in the billions of dollars at kids who do not want an education, who have parents who do not care. All the money in the world will not educate those kids. That is one of the most basic lessons life should have taught you long ago. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Ever heard that???? You cannot use education dollars to solve the problems of demographic sectors where motivation is low to begin with. That is not the purpose of that money. You need to organize and go into neighborhoods and do things to lift those people out of the lack of motivation they wallow around in. Churches can do that. Communities can do that. But that is NOT the purpose of education dollars.
Secondly, I am sick and tired of these false cries of racism. Are you blind or what? Your own statement is racist. Get over your racist self!!! If black kids or latino kids or whatever kids are not doing well in school, it is NOT the fault of whites. It is the fault of the environment in which they are raised. It is the fault of their parents. It is the fault of entire communities that reinforce values that do not lead to success for the kids. If they would suddenly wake up one morning and decide to have higher values and more ambition, things would improve immediately for those children. Again, it is NOT the fault of whites if other races have low ambition and a lack of high standards. However, I see plenty of blacks living in good neighborhoods, with good jobs, and their kids are doing well. That's not due to whites either. It is due to those particular individuals having some pride and self-respect and wanting something better for themselves. Whites have no control over that. Shut up with the garbage about racism. It was once true but is now for the most part a stinking lie. As I see it, these days it is blacks holding themselves back, and their leaders are only too happy to keep them on the plantation.

Perry thinks about a lot of things. Most of them have been bad for Texas He is one thing we don't want to export to the nation. I do wish he would get bored with destroying public education, promoting toll roads, and move on to other things in the private sector.
Patricia Edwards
I am neither a Dem. or Rep., i vote for who i think best represents the needs of the people. where are all those jobs he created ? the unemployement has gone up in my area and does not even count the jobs that were just lost in my area. he just signed a bill that will put many cottage business types out of business, i may even lose my home because of it, remains to be seen, no jobs out there for a woman my age. wont get my vote for anything he runs for !

Perry, the Idiot child, bragging on Texas values is not bragging on our values, but the abuses he has thrust onto Texans statewide. Pure bluff and bluster. The leader of Texas' Social Conservative Libertarian(TSCL) religious group, also known as the Texas Legislature have shoved forward their religious beliefs onto the Texas population, whether they liked it or not. They have passed frivolous legislation. The so-called job growth is an aberration in his mind that is unsubstantiated. He has failed the children of Texas, the teachers of Texas, the colleges and Universities of Texas, along with the indigent, lower and middle class of Texas. I would like to warn the Democrats of Texas to vote in 2012 to oust the Liberal GOP/TEA party legislature. Yes! The "Liberal" GOP/TEA party have ravished the people of Texas only to give lavish lucrative contracts to croonies of the Governor. The "Liberal" GOP/TEA party is liberal to those who severely limit women's access to and ability to pay for abortions. The pro-life movement has gone beyond just hopin’ that we can save a few babies, they want to control the women of America much like the Saudi's control their women. . Rather than do their job creating jobs in Texas they have passed frivolous legislation. Instead, they failed to attack the budget and provide funding for Texas school children. They passed extraneous laws that had nothing to do with jobs or the economy, but rather their religious beliefs. The Texas Republican(GOP/TEA) Party is now the party of record deficits($27 billion), historic budget failures($27 billion), spending on un-necessary legislation, imposing Texas's Social Conservative Libertarian religious acts(Sonogram Bill), and failure to create job creation programs for Texans. There should never have been a second session in Austin, but there was because the TSCL's have wasted taxpayer money and time.

What bothers me about a lot of you folks is that you view "telling lies" as an asset. Do any of you all check out the claims that Perry makes to see if they are true?? Or, you just don't care enough about our country to investigate and take everything Perry's says as the truth. This is how dictators are born.
