Poll: Obama Almost as Popular as Perry in Texas
Likely voters in Texas approve of President Barack Obama almost as much as they approve of Gov. Rick Perry, according to the third and final release of poll results from the Texas Lyceum, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group of civic leaders.
Since October, when the last Lyceum survey was conducted, Perry's approval rating has remained steady at 54 percent, while Obama's has increased from 47 to 51 percent. Even though Obama's handling of the national economy specifically — which is the top concern of Texans, according to Tuesday's findings — dropped to 46 percent, this percentage was eight points ...

All I can say is Texas must have way too much fluoride in the drinking water!

Interesting information in this "RED" state. President Obama seems poised to make inroads in Texas's "Red" state. Could it be the Federal Reserve Districts indicating that economic activity generally continued to expand since the last report, though a few districts indicated some deceleration," the Beige Book said Wednesday. Despite a few signs that economic growth is slowing, the report covering the Fed's 12 districts reported the recovery is actually chugging along at a solid pace. Wow! "Solid Pace"! Our do-nothing 112th Congress will continue to do nothing! Could it be the per capita spending that has not occurred and the spiraling down of the state in help for and to the lower and middle class? So glad that Texans are taking a hard look at Perry's incompetence.

Texas Lyceum is about as nonpartisan as the Texas Tribune. Nice try at responsible journalism. Texas Tribune, what a joke!!

@Mac: You just go into autodrive when seeing something you don't like, huh?
707 completed interviews is a pretty damn good baseline, and if you can point to any of the questions that you felt were leading, let's hear 'em. Otherwise you probably ought to suck it up and accept a little reality once in a while.

lets face it the economy is rolling because TEXAS has less regulation then most states and no income tax ( THANK GOD FOR THAT ) so all perry has to do is sit back and let it roll , he does NOT create jobs the private sector does ,and obama has tried to undermind that , with no doubt in my mind !

we need someone like RON PAUL, ALLEN WEST OR HERMAN CAIN. cut spending americans have to do the hard things to rebuild our country or we will be nothing more than a "ONCE GREAT NATION"
David Spratt
Took a while to stop laughing . Perry incompetent? Texas has created 37% of the total jobs Nationwide during the current reign of the Regime in Washington. Texas has weathered the recession with unemployment a full % point or more , less than the national average while those brilliant lawmakers in The wonderful oasis of California have had a net loss of jobs and unemployment running two points higher than the national average. Texas still has " money in the Bank" as California is technically bankrupt. No everybody did not get every dime they wanted in the last budget, but if some would look at the bigger picture , instead of whining, fiscal responsibility has insured Texas will not become bankrupt should things not improve dramatically , as the dreamers on the left would have all all believe. The philosophy being promoted by the left is that the future looks very bright ,, so lets all spend today since we can always replace it all in the coming economic boom when Obama's stimulus finally kicks in. It's such a grand idea I guess it just takes a little more time to actually take effect, or maybe there were not enough shovels to go around for all those " shovel ready Jobs?" I hear the Chino's are working overtime to produce more.
Marsha Willis
You have got to be kidding! Of all States, Texas has managed to hang on and actually grow it's jobs dispite Obama. I don't know how your poll was managed, but I cannot believe the numbers any more than I can believe the Administrations numbers. Rick Perry is for Texas, Obama is for Obama and the Union.
Don Meunier
doesn't say much for Perry . mtp (more's the pity)
