Perry Attack Ad From 1990 Still Stirs Talk of Racism
Critics largely gave Gov. Rick Perry a pass for hunting on a deer lease that once carried an ugly racist name. Even the White House accepted Perry’s explanation that his family found the N-word abhorrent and had painted over it at the first opportunity.
But two decades after he won his first statewide victory, a TV ad that helped put Perry over the top in his 1990 race for agriculture commissioner is still making racially tinged waves.
The Perry presidential campaign declined to release the controversial ad this week, and a search on YouTube and other internet video sites ...

I'm puzzled. The ad was put on the public airways in 1990, intended by its creators to be seen by as many people as possible. Now OU keeps it under wraps because of...copyright? Please explain.

It is also interesting to note that one can find Governor Perry's ad accusing Tony Sanchez of laundering drug money and the killing of a Border Patrol Agent. That commercial was on line for a long time, but is gone too. That commercial is racist as well portraying Hispanics as murdering drug dealers. That ad wasn't true, and even the judge in the case said it wasn't. Who would voters believe? Their prejudiced view or the facts. You can find a transcript of the video at Molly Ivins column or at the Qurum Report.

This is such garbage. Total and complete yellow journalism.

Another silly story. It's quite clear here, without seeing the ad in question, that Perry was linking Hightower to one of the biggest poverty pimps of our times, not the color of Jackson's skin. The ad clearly ties Hightower to Jackson's VALUES. From the story, it seems that Hightower's supporters were the ones with racial leanings, "After the ad began running, supporters told Hightower that “a white hand and black hand together” was hurting him."
Do your homework folks! At least read the Wikipedia article on Jackson's 1988 presidential run to get a flavor of what the political atmosphere was 21 years ago:

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this makes news. The media digs into anything and everything that could be considered controversial when it comes to possible presidential candidates....Still, the claim that this had anything to do with race is ridiculous. Hopefully people can see that.

I swear, TT feeds off every story or rumor so as to belittle or blame Perry. Have you guys ever heard of reporting something just for your own aims is not good journalism? If it were not for the media that hates all things conservative or republican you guys would not have anything to print...well, except for what you could make up or imagine to be news.
I don't think I need to read anymore from you guys. You have made your bed...
Lay in it with the other non-journalists and liberal fools.
