Well-Timed Land Deals Built Perry's Portfolio
The same might be said of his real estate deals.
Perry was not born into wealth and while he has drawn relatively modest pay as an elected official since 1985, he has made a small fortune on land transactions, some with the help of rich and politically connected friends. As the governor mulls a run for president, opponents and the news media are taking another look at his holdings and federal tax returns.

So the future President will have debts to pay and none are to the American people.

Sounds like Gov. Perry is already being vetted much more thoroughly by the media than they ever attempted to investigate Obama. Feign surprise.

@ Robbie Cooper - Another tparty attempt at disinformation. The President made his money by publishing. Perry made his by selling us down the river!

Dumb article. So Perry made and lost money over the past 10 years...big deal. Who didn't.
@ Dale H Curry - Perry sold you down the river? In what way? Did he increase your taxes or take your job? I would hardly believe that the Governor has sold you or anyone you know down the river. Finally, it appears that anyone that doesn't agree with your thoughts is a Tea Party follower? Typical low thinker.

Proving yet once again that in a Texas system of "go along and get along to get ahead", to become wealthy it's not necessarily what you know but who you know and when you know it -- as the old comedic saying goes, "Timing is everything." The process of gubernatorial appointments and insider dealings with speculative land investments has consistently produced large payoffs to those insiders, who in turn offer sweetheart deals and shares in joint ventures among friends so at some later point those friends will return the favor(s). A substantial chunk of the accrued profits is routinely plowed into selective campaign contributions at all levels of government as part of the back-scratching process in a political system so deeply embedded in Texas society and so thoroughly corrupted it truly does represent the "best" government money can buy (at least from the insiders' viewpoint)....

I've got no problem with this guy following human nature and taking care of himself and his family. In fact, I'd be a little worried if he did otherwise.
What I've got a problem with is his not realizing that great obligation comes with great power, and that there are a lot of Texans who aren't well connected and who are suffering and will suffer.

Really, Mr. Cooper? You're entitled to your opinion, but unless you have some secret link to all media, you have no idea how much Obama was investigated. I'm sure if Fox News found anything of substance, they would have yelled it from the rooftops. The best they could come up with is Beck saying Obama is racist, and crazy Olry Tates saying she has proof that Obama wasn't born in the U.S. Beck later retracted his statement and we're still waiting for Orly's proof.

@Francis - I invite you to do a little more research into the media coverage of the opponents of Barack Hussein Obama. Pew Research (http://www.journalism.org/analysis_report/winning_media_campaign) found that the mainstream media (NBC, ABC, CBS) were twice as likely to characterize McCain in a negative way than BHO. The same media was found to cast BHO in a positive light compared to JM at a greater than two times rate. This wasn't a study performed by Fox or National Review but instead by a neutral observer. So, there is unbiased research out there that shows the media portrays who they want, how they want. Is it to influence a decision by the public or because its good for sales. You can decide what you believe...I have my own opinions.
BTW, I do agree with you that Beck is an idiot for his comments.
Regards.

This link takes you to a website that shows where Gov Rick Perry got his campaign money from over the last 10 years. It currently points to the donation of $1 million dollars from Bob Perry, key opponent of the sanctuary cities legislation, along with Charles Butt of HEB fame.

Check out this video on the power brokers in Texas who defeated Texas’ attempts to defend ourselves from illegal aliens overwhelming our cities. With the current sanctuary cities policies forbidding law enforcement officials from inquiring about citizenship status when stopped for legitimate law enforcement, our state is being ruined by illegals. And Rick Perry received $1 million dollars in donations from one of the main opponents to sanctuary cities legislation, Bob Perry of Perry Homes.
The major players involved in killing the sanctuary cities bill were Norman Adams of Adams Insurance, Charles Butt of HEB Grocery chain, Dr. Holze of Conservative Republicans of Texas, and Bob Perry of Perry Homes. These people took it upon themselves to control our state legislature and to negate the vote that the voters of Texas expressed in November of last year.
this link gives the low down on how sanctuary cities was killed in the state legislature this year. this is the same Bob Perry, no relation to Gov Perry, who gave the governor $1 million last year.

like it says down below, me thinks perry forgot his roots. or others would say he has gotten too big for his britches. we sure don't think he stood up enough for texas and the law enforcement officials who have been killed by illegal aliens.
