Perry Rival Wants Probe of Retirement Pay
An old Republican rival of Gov. Rick Perry is calling on state and federal officials to investigate whether he broke the law when he began collecting his lucrative pension without actually leaving his job.
Debra Medina, who lost to Perry in the 2010 Republican primary, sent a letter Wednesday to the Internal Revenue Service and the Employees Retirement System of Texas asking for a probe.
“As a taxpayer and a longtime political activist devoted to the protection of public dollars from misuse by government officials, I am concerned that Gov. Perry may be violating the spirit of state and federal ...

Debra Medina. Yep. That is one intelligent heavyweight in the political world.

There she goes again! Debra Medina wiping up Perry even after he bought the Governorship. She literally cleaned his clock in the Texas debates and still is. She's right to seek an investigation because this loser is still winning monies he doesn't deserve, since he's still an employee of the state of Texas!

retirement “results in a termination of employment” YES, take back all his regular pay from the date he took retirement and remove him from the Governor's position immediately! Maybe this is how we get rid of him.

Yes, if someone –anyone can stop Perry in his headlong drive to garner taxpayer dollars, please do so. Since Medina would be more of a Richman’s Governor than even Perry is, you have to see this as another Perry put-down by Medina – not concern about taxpayer dollars.

I don't have ten thousand dollars to bet, but I'll bet you a dollar that Perry was flat-out lying through his teeth when he said that ERS called him up and advised him to take advantage of his pension.
Any reporters out there who could find that anonymous ERS adviser?

Can't wait 'til the Governor is sent home with his crooked tail betwixt his legs. Caution: there's a herd of his buddies (both Ds and Rs) that must go with the dude.

Thank you Debra Medina. Go forth and do good things. Obviously, Texas teachers and other employees of our great state have a different set of rules.

The legislature has been dominated by the republican party for the last ten years if you haven't noticed. They did absolutely NOTHING to prevent this from happening, in fact they condoned it. As for the teachers, they have to live on different rules. They cannot work and retire at the same time.
It is so much easier to be ignorant than to read and learn.

I would like to know about the foundations that Perry used to get the Green Party on the Ballot so that Bill "Sanctuary City" White could face some liberal opposition in the Governors race that had been reported last year..

Just because RP could do this legally, doesn't make it right and he should have known this wouldn't look well to American voters, but then again......he's not the sharpest tack in the bunch, is he?

I have always said Rick is slick.................

Legal? Probably.
Ethical? No way and no surprise!
Change in eligibility needed? Absolutely!
What else do we expect from selfish Slick Rick.? Slimy as ever.

I am definitely NOT a Medina fan but she is correct on this. There should be an investigation of Perry collecting his Retirement Income before he retires and several other Perry activities including His Rented Governor's Mansion especially now that he is trespassing all over the US politicking for President.
