Perry Names Arpaio His Arizona Campaign Chairman
Gov. Rick Perry has named embattled Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio his Arizona campaign chairman, despite a recent Obama administration report condemning alleged discriminatory practices in Arpaio's office.
In another bold move just days after a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry announced his struggling campaign has submitted the requirements to be listed on the Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Vermont and Washington, D.C., ballots. (Perry has filed suit to be added to the Virginia ballot, where he and other candidates were disqualified for not collecting enough signatures.)
"As my campaign for president moves forward, our superior organization ...

Obviously he wants to show that he's strong on Mexicans

If Perry was doomed before, forgot about it now. With Arpaio on board, what few Hispanic votes Perry might have gotten have all but vanished.

Is this a joke? It's a joke, right? Tell me it's a joke.
Oh, lord.

Bizarre.

I also thought it was an Onion piece. This is abominable. But hopefully this will be the last nail on Perry's coffin (hopefully).

This would be the same "superior organization and resources" that couldn't get him on the ballot in the Virginia primary?

I don't think that Arpaio makes a distinction between LEGAL and ILLEGAL Hispanics. Regardless of how LEGAL Hispanics feel about ILLEGAL Hispanics, the question is...do they want someone like Arpaio advising Rick Perry about how to handle the "Hispanic problem"?
sssdddd
I wonder why it appears Perry political strategists think 2 wrongs equals a right. Perry and this is simply wrong squared.
Frances Demps via Texas Tribune on Facebook
It's official. Rick Perry is insane. He needs to quit the presidential race and tend to his mental health needs. I'm not kidding.

I think Perry is under the erroneous opinion that with Arpaio as his campaign chairman he can get the conservative vote - nothing can be farther from the truth. We won't forget that he said in a debate that those that didn't agree with his 2001 Texas DREAM Act had no heart - he lost 13% the next day. He hasn't changed his ideas, he's still pro-illegal, this is all a ploy. But I can't figure out what's up with Arpaio. And for those of you on this page that have castigated Arpaio for what he does, he's only enforcing the law - not that the pro-illegal faction writing on this page would have any idea what the laws are, or even care.

This is a SMART move by Gov. Perry, Sheriff Joe knows what it takes to protect the American CITIZEN!
This alone makes me want to vote for Perry for President! WE MUST GET RID OF THE IDIOT THAT WE NOW HAVE FOR A PRESIDENT!
Matthew Ostman via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Rather interesting that the Tribune chose not to mention the OTHER allegations against Arpaio's office... that he failed to investigate properly hundreds of allegations of sexual crimes, including some of child molestation.

Who cares who the doofus appoints to his failed campaign. Bush-lite is just going to hang out until he spends all the money donated to him or until he can figure out a way to quit without saying he quit.

Sheriff Joe would be a great team leader. I am proud of him and very happy that he endorsed Gov. Perry.
"He doesn't just talk about it, he does something about it," Arpaio said. "He is an honorable, ethical person with a great family. I'm here to lend all my support to ensure that he becomes president of the United States."
“I like the governor, in fact I’ll say it right now, it’s a pleasure and an honor to endorse you for president," Arpaio told a New Hampshire crowd. "One reason I like him is because he’s been fighting this battle as the governor. He doesn’t just talk about it. He does something about it."
Joe: Unlike other candidates, Rick Perry has never been the choice of the political establishment, never been a paid lobbyist and never served in Congress or an Administration. He is the true outsider… the right man to bring desperately needed change to Washington.

One thing is to enforce the law, a law pertaining to Arapaio's jurisdiction, period. He has no businesses with the federal law, for one. Second, a different thing is to be a racist DOG. Has anyone seen his photo? Has anyone seen his facial expression? Ask a psychologist or psychiatrist about that Arapaio's facial expression and you will have your "favorite" answer. After that, any intelligent person would never support "Joe the dog" again.
Bert Chadwick via Texas Tribune on Facebook
1-Yeah, very ethical. He is being investigated for not checking into sexual crimes and some child molestation.
Bert Chadwick via Texas Tribune on Facebook
2- Arapaio fighting his battle? Yes, he has cannons and the other side slingshots. He is a DOG.[dogs my apology for putting you in the same bracket with Arapaio. Dogs are a noble specie, that's the difference.

Why did the Texas Lottery get given to a company that scored lower than another? Why did Texas law change in 2004 because of the Governor dealings with the Texas Lottery Vendor? Why and how did a elected public servant in Texas go from just below middle class to a multi-millionaire? How do those things happen? Luck? No it's called being paid off. Why do the governor and his office issue so many contracts to foreign companies? Why is that he was so hyped on one of his speeches he acted like someone on Coke or Meth? Why did last week he sounded like he was the second coming that he has a call to be President? Sounded like a televangelist. I have supported Republican my entire life but one thing about it, if Perry were the GOP choice I would not vote for the man. In fact, if the GOP continues to allow Perry to campaign I’m seriously thinking of either voting for another party or not voting at all. It’s a disgrace to the Party and to anyone with a education. When you look at Texas educational system you begin to understand why he thinks he can act that way, he has destroyed the educational system for our youth. But Perry wants it that way, more illegal voting for him, more uneducated people so that Texas rich can pay the lowest wages in the country. I saw in a blog someone referred to him as the Jimmy Swaggart of the GOP - I would tend to agree with that. His actions, his inability to communicate clearly, inability to debate for one thing makes him the wrong person. Perry wants to be Imperial Ruler as you can tell by his part-time Congress thing, the other was I'm going to Texas out of the Union, really Rick. His allowing illegals to attend Texas University at instate cost, clearly goes to show he doesn't know what country he is in and clearly is wrong. Perry was and in many ways remains the Democrat he has always been. He didn't embrace the GOP until he realized he couldn't get elected if he wasn't part of the party. Support of Al Gore, come on folks, Ralph Nader is more republican than Rick Perry. Calling he said, that's scary.... He has voices in his head, we in Texas might want to have our elected officials justify why he is in office since clearly by watching his campaign stuff he is not mentally sound. Texas Legislators need to remove him from office.

Bert, be very careful before you slander someone. If you're implying that Arpaio has been involved in child molestation (which is what it sounds like) that's a serious accusation which is utterly false.
Secondly, Title 8, Section 1357 (g)(1) "Notwithstanding section 1342 of title 31, the Attorney General may enter into a written agreement with a State, or any political subdivision of a State, pursuant to which an officer or employee of the State or subdivision, who is determined b the Attorney General to be qualified to perform a function of an immigration officer in relation to the INVESTIGATION, APPREHENSION, or DETENTION of aliens in the United States (including the transportation of such aliens across State lines to detention centers), may carry out such function at the expense of the State or political subdivion and to the extent consistent with State and local law." Officers in Maricopa County have been trained in 287(g), Arizona state law permits enforcement. Know what you're talking about before you take up space.

Joe Arpaio is a good man and will get the job done.

Remember a vote for a democrat is a vote for Obama and illegal aliens, homosexuals and terrorist.

As a point of clarification, if someone would like to read my previous comment about Arpaio, I NEVER even implied he is being investigated for sexual crimes or child molestation... What I wrote is..." He is being investigated for not checking into sexual crimes and some child molestation..." In other words he did not handle those allegations properly. Way different... Now, if anyone wants to check this out please to to...
