For Perry, Pitfalls Line Path to Recovery
Last week wasn’t Gov. Rick Perry’s best: He had a bad debate and lost two straw polls. Now the campaign must regroup with an eye toward additional pitfalls lining the campaign trail.
"Perry really did throw up all over himself in the debate,” Fox News’ Brit Hume said after Thursday’s forum in Orlando, Fla., at which Perry repeatedly stumbled over his answers. “At a time when he needed to raise his game, I mean, he did worse, it seems to me, than he had done in previous debates."

I'm not of fan of Mr. Perry (R. - Merck), but I'm not sure the Florida straw poll was a good indicator of actual sentiment within the Florida Republican Party rank-and-file. I have heard that there was a fee of $175 to be allowed to vote; after the damage caused by the Bush-Obama recession, how any folks would have been able to pay such a fee?

Maybe Perry should go run for President in Mexico so he can really help his illegal aliens.

If you are going to make a run for PRESIDENT, you don't show up to the party half-dressed. The public will tear you apart. IMHO, Perry showed up totally naked, and now he's the laughing stock of this country. Texans already knew our governor had no clothes, but now he's gone and aired that dirty laundry all over the country.

how can you be in three debates, do progressively worse in each one, actively campaign for a straw poll win only to lose to a no-tier candidate by more than double, be referred to as having thrown up all over yourself, and still walk away thinking you can win the presidency. this man is some kind-of arrogant. i guess you have to be to want that job though.

Carlos, you mean the 12-term Constitutionally consistent congressman from Texas who has
-Never voted to raise taxes
-Never voted for an unbalanced budget
-Never voted for federal restrictions on gun ownership
-voted Against the unPatriot Act
-voted Against the Iraq War
just to name a few? Are you referring to THAT Ron Paul?

Right on. That's what you get for not debating Mr. White in your run for governor.

NO his competitive edge was NOT dulled. It's like most of us already knew, he's not smart enough to debate. And these national debates have proved that. Just another embarrassment for Texas.

Personally I was surprised he agreed to debate so early in the first place. He was immediately dubbed "the front runner" by the media and poll respondents and honestly had no real reason to show up. He could have used excuses of still putting his team together or time conflicts (we've heard it before). Hell, the Bastrop fire gave him a perfectly valid excuse to skip one of the debates entirely and then to attack via press release anyone who attacked him in absentia.
Let's just say that so far, Perry's campaign does not appear to be run with the same precision for which he is famous. Either that will return (if it was truly there and not an illusion created by weak opposition heretofore) or it won't, but either way the quest for the nomination will not be a repeat of the milk runs of his past.

If you're looking for another George Bush you'll find him in both Perry and Romney.

Ron Paul the racist? You won't even get your garbage collected if he were in charge.

"He didn't go to editorial boards. He didn't debate." I very much get the impression that RP is not actually much at all of a racist, why is this advantageous for you to state this again?

Perhaps support your representatives rather than in a block accusing them of what the South supported so long ago, yes they maintain a seat in political office, but this does not insist that they are as particular people of that brand. It is cowardly to accuse from a distance while Lincoln is being shot.
