Bachmann Abortion-Sonogram Bill Not Modeled on Texas
An abortion-sonogram bill resembling the one Gov. Rick Perry signed into law this year popped up in Washington courtesy of Perry’s fellow Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Michele Bachmann, of Minnesota.
Her proposal came ahead of the Family Research Council’s Values Voters Summit on Friday, a chance for the candidates to showcase their social-conservative credentials as Bachmann lags and Perry attempts to climb back in national polls. The bill was accompanied by a new Bachmann video urging supporters not to “settle on life and marriage."

If Bachmann really thinks that a woman hasn't completely researched and considered all her options prior to obtaining an abortion then she is delusional.

laying guilt on people for making their own choice DOES NOT equal giving them information

Since she cannot even get 15 percent of Republicans to endorse her schtick I suspect this will only serve to gat more dems involved in her state to get her the heck out of office....

why do we even allow the government to weigh in on personal health choices? It is a waste of their time and our taxpayer dollar when they should be focusing strictly on the task at hand: re-creating a solid infrastructure that supports commerce and building productive, peaceful relationships with other nations.

also: this is not logical thinking. the only way this would influence TWO lives is if she does not have the option of abortion and is forced to bring a child into the world that may not be loved or well cared for. Don't try to play the "adoption" card - like stray puppies and cats, there are already too many children waiting for homes.

As IF Michele Bachmann knows what 'the very best information' is! Since facts seem to get in the way of her ideas and she mostly disregards said facts, how in the heck does she get to decide what women must know?

The religious folks claim life begins at conception so a miscarriage is therefore an abortion by someone or something other than the willful intent of some human. These women in particular are typically given no opportunity to choose life. Data from the CDC, Guttmacher Institute, and the March of dimes suggests that 15-40% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. We seem to know that the 15% is pretty solid and the higher percentage is because medical researchers believe many miscarriages occur early and before the mother realizes she is pregnant. Based on the 2008 data from Guttmacher there may have been as many as 1.6 million miscarriages that year while induced abortions were 1.2 million. So someone other than humans appears to be the more predominant abortionist in our country.
Are there any thoughts about trying to curb the maliciousness of this murderer? Would this guy consider lowering his rate if more people prayed and pledged more money to the evangelical groups? I reckon the answer is probably No because this wonderful fellow has killed and appears willing to continue killing everyone at some point, including infants and young children, often through horrible disease and natural disasters. If abortion is murder then aren't we praying to the single greatest murderer in all of history?
Since we are images of this god isn't abortion simply following divine example and therefore no special secular rules or laws are necessary. Shouldn't we go with the obvious divine freedom to individually chose what we should do in life and what we believe. Isn't every other medical decision a choice of the patient and that's why the mandatory medical insurance provision of the 2010 Health Care law is being challenged in the courts? Adults who reject medical insurance or health care for their children may very well be signing death warrants for at least some of these innocent humans as well. Should doctors or state health officials be required to show unrequested pictures and statistics to parents that refuse available health care?
What is wrong with the historical medical process of doctors answering questions if asked? These doctor folks are pretty smart and are likely to be astute enough to volunteer information whenever they realize their patient may not be aware of all the facts in every medical situation. Shouldn't this confidence between patient and doctor remain between patient and doctor?

Bachmann is totally hypocritical. She attacked Perry for mandating HPV vaccines for girls, and now she wants mandated sonograms for women seeking abortions. If Bachmann and other tea party conservatives really wanted limited government, they would not support legislation that requires health care procedures that are against some patients' wishes. The truth is the tea party supporters believe abortion should be illegal, so they will jump on any type of legislation that interferes with women's right to abortion.
