UT/TT Poll: Runoffs Loom in U.S. Senate Race
Texas’ Republican primary for U.S. Senate is close — and could be headed for a July 31 runoff — with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst holding a single-digit lead over former Solicitor General Ted Cruz, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll.
Dewhurst had the support of 40 percent of likely voters, followed by Cruz at 31 percent. Former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert had 17 percent and broadcaster and former football player Craig James was at 4 percent, with five other GOP candidates bringing up the rear.

Cruz continues to gain on Dewhurst, DESPITE his millions of negative advertising (or maybe because of it?). Maybe, just maybe, Dewhurst and his big-dollar donors can't buy this election.

I'm voting for Dewhurst.

can't stand either one of them

Either Cruz or Dewhurst is a better option than any of the Democrats. It's interesting that, based on fundraising efforts, the Democrats don't even register in the Senate race.

On two brief occasions I had the opportunity to observe Dewhurst and Cruz in a work setting. I would prefer to send Cruz to the US Senate. Cruz was always very professional while Dewhurst seemed more of a regular politician, the kind we already have enough of in Washington. The negative ads against Cruz are lame.

The Texas Senatorial election is too important for Texans to ignore. What is at stake is who will be at the table representing you? Who's going to stand up for the people and not the special interest of fringe players? All four candidates are using the term "Conservative" to describe themselves and their sole motive is to perpetuate their own candidacy or positions. Retire all career politicians and invoke Texas' Term limits. The bottom line on Texas' revolving door of career political candidates continues while Texans suffer the consequences. Texas needs "Initiative and Referendum" on every passage of laws from the Texas Legislature to approve or disapprove legislation coming out of Austin. The massive number of one-sided laws benefiting the few stinks. This is your country and your representative should represent you. If you think Congress needs changes, new blood, people who represents you and not special interest or puppeteers like Grover Norquist, then get involved, go to meetings, get registered, vote and get out the vote.
I recommend Sean Hubbard for the Senate.

Dewhurst the career politico is Perry's accomplice.. for me that’s reason enough to vote for Cruz or Leppert.
ABD (Anybody but Dewhurst)

Yeah, vote republican: keep Texas a dumb one-party state...

The republicans have the people of Texas so scared and angry that they'd vote for the devil himself as long as there was an "R" behind his name. Unfortunately, we ALL lose when one party controls all branches of government for as long as the republicans have. Before the repubs took over it was the Democrats that were in power for FAR too long. Doesn't matter which party, if you give all the control to just one of them its nothing but a green light to corruption.
