An Election Sprint-Turned-Slog Comes to an End
Finally.
The elections that were supposed to come and go in March (the primary) and May (the runoff) — elections delayed by redistricting litigation and stretched out by new federal laws that add days to the stretch between the first and second rounds — are coming to an end on Tuesday.
More than six dozen candidates for state office who expected to be doing something else with the middle of their summer have almost reached the end of the primary marathon. It's ridiculous. The whole thing should be started and over with in 5 months (primaries included). We live in an age where it's all out there from day 1. Too many people (myself included) stopped listening months ago. I'm tired of all the crap being slung around the airwaves and the hate that is being stirred up. I propose:
2 months for the primaries
1 month for run off
1 month for election
If you can't get your message out during that time, you're not worth my vote.
