Against the Grain, Texas GOP Dominated on Election Day
Democratic victories across the nation left Republican voters and activists with the political version of a hangover last week. In the alternate universe known as Texas, they are blaming the Champagne.
Republicans here are celebrating another statewide sweep. They held onto huge majorities in the Legislature and the Texas congressional delegation. And at a time of increasing angst about their ability to thrive as the Hispanic population grows, the Texas Republican Party has fielded the first Hispanic U.S. senator from Texas — Ted Cruz.

Hispanic Texans are a lot smarter than their California counterparts, realizing that someone who runs for office, promising to tax your neighbor but not you, to pay for entitlements for you but not the guy he just mugged, is not fit for office. So they are more likely to vote Republican. Good for them.
Not only California, but most blue states are economic basket cases. They are not the model for Texas.
In addition to our new Republican U.S. Senator, Ted Cruz, I see the Texas House will again have an impressive group of Black, Asian and Latino Republicans in 2013. Donna Howard is the only Anglo woman in the House, Wendy Davis in the Senate.

I would guess that many business owners and industry leaders are worried as well regardless of their political affiliation. I was first moved here because the energy company which employed my husband was moving most of its essential personnel from CA to TX. I keep wondering where some of these companies are going to relocate next? But who knows, maybe voters will understand the symbiosis necessary to maintain a healthy, vibrant economy

This just shows that this is the most extremist right-wing state in the country. Isn't that a wonderful thing?
