Yarbrough Produced Campaign Ad Few Saw

Retired educator Grady Yarbrough caught many by surprise when he came in second in this week’s four-way Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

While his campaign received very little attention, Yarbrough insists he worked hard to win over voters and always expected to make a runoff with former state Rep. Paul Sadler.

Yarbrough has not reported spending any money on his campaign with the Federal Elections Commission. However, he says he spent $20,000 to $25,000 of his savings on the race and will file the necessary reports later this month.

Part of his campaign spending went into a TV commercial that aired once in the Waco area days before the May 29 primary, according to Yarbrough.

In the ad, Yarbrough says he supports the DREAM Act and favors forgiving part of the interest on student loans. He also vows to never support cuts for Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security.
