Video: Ted Cruz on "Fox News Sunday"
The surprise winner of Tuesday's U.S. Senate runoff, Ted Cruz, was a guest on this morning's edition of Fox News Sunday. He talked about his willingness to work with Democrats — and "Martians" — to cut spending, reduce the federal deficit and shrink the size of government, as well as "defend liberty and restore the Constitution."

Yep, as long as it is HIS way.

In other words, he's not willing to compromise. What a fraud.

Lib's are freaking out now that Texas is going to have a real CONSERVATIVE Senator, one who is determined to CUT the budget and - gasp - reduce the size of Fedzilla!

Cruz joining Rand Paul and Mike Lee is awesome! Now we just need to get rid of bailout-supporting John Cornyn!!

They've been spending money on all the wrong places, apparently. Who will help pub ed now?
Staci Flinchum via Texas Tribune on Facebook
@ Susie, a vote for repubs is another nail in the coffin public education.
Jeremy M. Prince via Texas Tribune on Facebook
So, basically, he's not really interested in compromise at all.

It must easier for some of you to just call people names than actually use a tiny little piece of your brain and acknowledge that the government needs to get a handle on spending before we end up like Greece?
Chris Bazan via Texas Tribune on Facebook
^we all agree to cut some spending, problem is, Republicans don't want to admit that cuts to the military need to be a part of it, and tax rates going to pre-Bush levels will really help get the deficit down.
John Cobarruvias via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Any idiot can cut spending. It takes intelligence to prevent the need to. Cruz lacks this intelligence. He is simply a fuckin idiot.

The federal government spends 3xs as much of its budget paying the interest on our debt as it does on public education; Washington clearly fails to admit it has a problem. Ted Cruz has the right idea, we need to cut spending in certain areas, focus it where it needs to be, and responsibly manage our budgets so that needed programs can actually afford to exist in the future.

Republican cuts are disproportionately borne by the week, poor, sick and elderly. Compromise would mean talking and listening and responding to people who feel this isn't fair, just or humane.

Vote Paul Sadler for US Senate. Scrub out those horrible Tea Stains!
Debbie Spencer via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Paul Sadler will work for the people, not against them.

I voted 4 Ted Cruz b/c he is in the Tea Party! And I will homeschool my children in a heartbeat if any program tries 2 SHOVE a godless point of view down my kids' throats, such as any kind of sexual activity, apart from abstinence, drugs or prostitution being legalized, etc. IF my parenting skills come to counter teaching of Christ, they'll b GONE!

the goper mantra. the problem is it doesn't and hasn't worked.

Do not cut spending mid-great recession. We are not Greece, although a little Hellenis

Thank God that we aren't Greece!

All I can say is the short-sighted critics are out in full force before the seat is actually won. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and gripe and slander. Cruz had the balls to attempt to run against some pretty daunting odds. Instead of whining, why not run for one of your local offices and help direct where you think things can go? Oh, yeah... That's right... You're too busy. You're not funded. You're too lazy to actually take part in the process. It really is a lot easier to whine and moan. Ted has my full support. I hope he makes the mark he intends to make.

Well said, Lee Trammell Swartwout!

Come on, Democrats - SUPPORT Paul Sadler for Senate - give him tons of your money! Spend all your time and energy on his campaign! Yes you can! And so what if he's a total failure? At least you've proven that YOU are TRUE to your cause!
Staci Flinchum via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Yes Lee it sure does take balls to cut education, EPA, increase taxes on the middle class..... Yea balls but no brains or heart.

To all the educated voters of Texas! If you are tired of the minuscule maneuvering of the TEA controlled Texas Legislature, join the Democratic wave and wash out the confrontational scum in the Legislature!

I wondered how long it would take for commentss to turn from a discussion of what he said to tacky petty whining? No time at all. Childishness to include the F word. Sad state of Texas if one were going by most people here.
Harsh Times via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Yes, please waste your money on Sadler.

While Mr. Cruz may not be able to choose what cases he takes on, if that is so, I cannot understand why he would not have offered millions to the mother whose child committed suicide after being incarcerated in this for profit youth rehab. $500? I am stunned that anyone would have voted for either of the Repub candidates. Bad and Badder.
I cannot understand why the Judge that Cruz is defending is not up for the death penalty? Any person that abuses his position of power to wrongfully imprison CHILDREN in a scheme to make money and allows further abuse of children by the for profit facility that they built for the noble purpose of profit.
What kind of human being is he? And we have this man on an election ballot? Somebody has to take that case but what kind of message is he sending to other Judges and other profiteers? $500 per child? How many of those children are now getting the care they need and will $500 cover it? What happened to the rest of the children from these facilities. Shouldn't this be a death penalty case?
