Williams Releases Tax Returns, Urges Foes to Do Same

Congressional candidate Michael Williams released his 2011 tax returns today, and the former Texas railroad commissioner urged his 11 Republican primary opponents to do the same.

Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams announces U.S. Senate candidacy at TribLive on January 27, 2011.

Federal income tax returns aren't even due to the IRS yet, but Republican Michael Williams, a candidate for his party's nomination in Congressional District 25, has posted his 2011 returns online and called on his primary opponents to do the same.

According to the returns, Williams and his wife, Donna, paid $64,357 in federal taxes on $337,346 in adjusted gross income in 2011. They gave $36,551 to charity.

Williams resigned last year from the Texas Railroad Commission. He was initially in the race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is not seeking another term, but he moved into a congressional race in Arlington when the first redistricting maps came out. In the current maps ordered by a federal court, he's running in CD-25, which stretches south from Fort Worth to Hays County, south of Austin. He is one of 12 Republicans in that race.

The Williams' 2011 tax return is here, and their 2010 return is here, or can be viewed below.
