Liveblog: Cruz, Dewhurst Face Off in KERA Senate Debate
Update, June 23, 12 p.m.: Former Solicitor General Ted Cruz aimed to undermine Gov. Rick Perry's support of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's bid for U.S. Senate late Friday, prompting a swift rebuttal from Perry himself.
At a press conference after the debate, Cruz said Perry had only endorsed Dewhurst out of a desire to replace Dewhurst as lieutenant governor.
"It is in his political interest to get rid of David Dewhurst and get him out of Austin and send him somewhere else," Cruz said.
Within hours, Perry released a statement addressing Cruz's allegation.

Gee, Dewhurst didn't bother to stop to talk to the reporters afterward. I guess the press has joined the rest of us 'Great Unwashed' (who he stood up at scores of candidate forums) in not being worthy of his time.
