Courting Controversy Works for Louie Gohmert
When MSNBC launched a series a few years ago about obscure politicians who propel themselves into headline-grabbing controversies, the producers did not struggle to find their first subject. They picked U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler.
Over the years, Gohmert has compared homosexuality to bestiality, endorsed a column likening Barack Obama’s presidency to Adolf Hitler’s dictatorship and warned anyone who will listen that evil-doers are making “terror babies” who — like human time bombs — will be trained abroad only to return some day to wreak havoc in America.
He has been called both a “deather” and a “birther” — the ...

"I wish we had more people like Louie.” Looks like the people of Tyler Texas like prejudice & discrimination if this guy is considered a good representative of his districts views.
If you don't like homosexuality then don't become a homosexual but don't use the force and gun of the government to enforce your narrow minded views.
If you don't like the idea of children dying then spend your time and money trying to save real children who are starving and being killed in wars all over the world and don't use the force and gun of the government to mandate forced pregnancy on women who do not wish to be pregnant.

If Gohmert offends the lying anti american left wing traitors of CBS, NBC or ABC then he is doing and saying the right things. I am offended by the constant lies and treasonous activities of the left wing lame steam propaganda media
Samdavis
Wow Donald, good to know there are others who are the intellectual equal of Gohmert. This isn't about the "left wing lame 'steam' propaganda media, it's about idiots that vote for and support someone like Louie who spouts Christianity out of one side of his mouth and hatred out of the other. This support is an indictment of people in his district and people like you who choose to ignore the truth and watch Fox News instead. The world will be a better place when Gohmert and people who vote for him are gone.

Wow Samdavis, it is hard to argue against broad sweeping emotional accusations that contain no substance. What makes you say that he “spouts Christianity out of one side of his mouth and hatred out of the other”? Do you have any examples that can be debated, or are we just to make emotional arguments with no facts and logic?

“What really gets me as a Christian is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place,” Gohmert said.
True Bigot, these are easy to find. Gohmert has said one crazy thing after another putting down gays, liberals, and just about anyone else who doesn't fall in his narrow scope of belief. If you would get your head out of your butt and look you'd find them easily enough.

Barton Book Dumped When Bartons book first came out and the Right-Wing Fanatics were slobbering all over themselves. Louie said he could have written this book. I would ask him how he feels about this book now.
Last month the History News Network voted David Barton’s book “The Jefferson Lies” the “least credible history book in print.” Now the book’s publisher, Thomas Nelson, has decided to stop publishing and distributing it.
The book, which argues that Thomas Jefferson was an enthusiastic orthodox Christian who saw no need for a wall of separation between church and state, has attracted plenty of criticism since it appeared in April, with an introduction by Glenn Beck. But the death knell came after Jay W. Richards, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute and the author, with James Robison, of “Indivisible: Restoring Faith, Family and Freedom Before It’s Too Late,” began to have doubts and started an investigation.
Barton has turned the study of America’s Christian roots into a lucrative business, hawking books and video sermons, speaking at churches and political confabs, and scoring a fawning New York Times profile and interviews on the Daily Show. He’s got friends in high places: “I almost wish that there would be like a simultaneous telecast and all Americans would be forced–at gunpoint no less–to listen to every David Barton message,” Mike Huckabee told an Evangelical audience in March of 2011. “I never listen to David Barton without learning a whole lot of new things,” Newt Gingrich told conservatives in Iowa that same month.
That’s probably because much of what David Barton writes seems to have originated in David Barton’s head.

See what Tom DeLay's "permanent majority" got us. Speaking of, why isn't the convicted Felon Tim DeLay sitting in prison.

The Fox News and Rush Limbaugh Sheep in his district don't care who's running for office, as long they are Republicans. I'd like to see how many people in the Tyler-Longview area vote straight ticket Republican. The figure has to be astronomical. Gohmert Pyle and Leo Berman can say anything they want, it doesn't seem to matter. Sad.

Gohmert is as dumb as a bag of hair. He is an embarrassment to the other morons.

Gohmert is a liar, bigot, and the level of disrespect he has shown the office of President will ensure he is afforded the same level of respect in the future. NONE! His gasoline on the fire politics shows his strength lies only in dividing our nation. He has NO interest in representing the democrats in his district nor does he care to reach a compromise. His comments to towards the President have been blatant in their racist connotations. His homophobic remarks would make Perry look like a drag queen. His comments regarding immigration appeals to only the hardened bigots. When Texas becomes a Blue state, he will be the first that will be retired.

Sounds like a great gig: say something stupid enough to get you some national attention, collect some campaign funds, get reelected, then go back to doing nothing at all for a while.

It works for him because he usually runs un-opposed in a highly republican district. The fact that he has done nothing noteworthy on Capital Hill besides making controversial statements is no surprise. But what can you expect from a district that is bullied by a few vocal religious leaders that go to any lengths to resist any sort of compromise with little or no regard for the economic impact or compassion for anyone that doesn't share their views. Based on that record and the fact that I abhor name calling such as numbnuts, Ms. McKellar has my full support. Hopefully she is Gohmerts' replacement.
