UT/Texas Tribune Poll: Perry, White Way Ahead
Gov. Rick Perry is well ahead of U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and former Wharton County GOP chair Debra Medina, who are locked in a statistical tie for second place in a GOP gubernatorial primary that could go to a runoff, according to a new University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.
Perry had the support of 45 percent of self-identified Republican primary voters — short of the majority required for an outright win. Hutchison had 21 percent and Medina had 19 percent, a two-percentage-point divide that's smaller than the poll's margin of error.

One good thing about the governor mansion fire is the mansion will smell clean and fresh when the Democrats moves in. At least, I hope they can get that republican odor out of it.

Ms. Medina speaks her mind. She is still better qualified than any of the candidates. Attacks on Debra are coming from all around her in many forms. The trap she was led into by Backward Beck smacks of cronyism and baiting. Perry and Hutchinson are attacking because they feel her heat. Baby Boy Bush was in charge along with Chaney. And we know they were secretive. I feel that we should have “initiative and referendum” as well so that the voting public has a say on each an every issue confronting Texans. Wouldn’t it be nice if all the pundits were wrong and people voted out all the incumbents. We need to do a house cleaning. “Vote out the Encumbants”. Latinos have become on of the largest Socio-politico-Economic groups in America. Even more so in Border States. Medina talks on issues relevant to Texas and our state. There's little prospect for new campaign finance reform legislation in the wake of last week's Supreme Court decision expanding the ability of outside groups to pour money into elections. I feel that we should have "initiative and referendum" as well so that the voting public has a say on each an every issue confronting Texans. I'm at a total loss as to why people still back Perry. Maybe because he's a graduate of A&M(1972). There have charges of cronyism and politicization of appointments, rewarding political supporters and punishing opponents. He has handed out prestigious positions to state boards and commissions and retracted them when He deems actionable. He has killed popular legislation that has passed with substantial majorities in the state legislature. Perry politicized federal stimulus funding for unemployment benefits by refusing them. Additionally he refused public education monies for the same reasons. Add to this mix his attempt to ram through the Trans-Texas Corridor with heavy-handedness and intimidation of local officials. Perry inherited the Governorship from Bush and he has let the arrogance of his office corrupt him. We need to do a house cleaning. Perry and Hutchinson have out stayed their welcome. Do not be swayed with the constant rhetoric being spewed by the well-financed elite. Remember absolute power corrupts. “Vote out the Encumbants”.
