Perry, Hutchison and Medina Face Off in Debate
UPDATED: The three Republican gubernatorial candidates — Kay Bailey Hutchison, Debra Medina, and Rick Perry — met for their second, and probably final, debate in Dallas tonight. We came, we watched, we wrote, live-blogging all the way.
As we did in the first debate two weeks ago, we're leaving the results on line; this time, it was Emily Ramshaw at the debate in Dallas and, again, Ross Ramsey in Austin, watching TV like a regular voter.
We also teamed with Austin's KXAN-TV to set up a focus group, in an attempt to see the candidates through the eyes of real ...

I back Debra Medina because of principle not personality. (Though her personality is just fine). Any questions about "who won the debate" and "who would be the best candidate" are laughable. (no disrespect to the reporters.. I know you can't just come out and say that). Anyone who can't see what Debra Medina brings to the table just don't want to see. She's the real deal and means business.

For a dark horse, Debra Medina sure had a lot of hard facts at hand. I think Belo
did a very good job of setting the boundaries and asking some historical and current
questions - most of which are on the minds of Texans. Personally I am very tired
of politicians being inaccessible and double talking when asked direct questions.
Medina seemed to be very knowledgeable - she has earned my vote.
Clearly she has one this debate.

A 14% sales tax...? All that’s going to do is get the wealthy to barter for what they want and leave the middle class to pay for all state govt! I couldn't help watch these three and realize their replies are the best justification for electing Bill White as our next governor.

Medina won it. I will vote for her!!

Pretty simple: Hutchison bombed. Perry was fine. Medina was excellent.
At this point, there are two questions left:
1. Will Hutchison finish ahead of Medina?
2. Will Perry get more than 50% and avoid a runoff?
