Hutchison to Keep Senate Seat During Race for Gov
Kay Bailey Hutchison won't resign from the Senate to run for governor. Hutchison and her aides began calling other Republicans Friday afternoon to tell them to make other plans.
"She will resign the Senate when the cap-and-trade and health care debates are over," said spokesman Joe Pounder. He said she will resign at that point if she wins the Republican primary for governor - or not. Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate have said they think the debate on health care will come in January.

I have not seen any polls asking Dems who will jump ship and vote for KBH in the primaries just to get rid Perry. That could make a big difference.

So our only choice for Governor in Texas is just more of the same - two long-serving incumbents? If you haven’t heard, hunting season for incumbents opens March 2nd, 2010 when the primary election is held in Texas and there is no bag limit for donkeys OR elephants. I cannot wait to cast my vote for the “other” Republican candidate running for Governor in Texas, Debra Medina.
Apparently I am an Extreme American as even though I traditionally vote for conservative candidates I am not happy with the establishment of either major political party. Rick Perry has been preaching the constitutional gospel recently even though he is well known to sell off our supposedly "unalienable rights" to any international business interest (Cintra, Merck, etc) that will help him advance his personal interests or campaign coffers.
People need to understand Rick Perry loves Rick Perry and only Rick Perry – this is a harmful trait for a person leading the government of the 13th largest economy of the world. One could write a book on the corruption associated with Rick Perry and his good ole boy network. But a quick run through websites like ImpeachPerry.com or SlickRickPerry.com are sufficient to expose the hypocrisy and get the idea.
The story of taxpayer betrayal is much the same with Kay Bailey Hutchison except in her case she has sold out the interests of all citizens to international financiers and any weapons manufacturer the warfare lobby wants her to fund. The organization “Citizens Against Government Waste” have blasted her record of wasteful spending votes. I do not call that financially responsible – let alone conservative. Again, the new challenger Debra Medina will gladly get my vote.
My uncompromising support for Debra Medina is based on what I now know to be true. Politicians are bought every election cycle by special interest groups. If we want someone in public office with true allegiance to citizen interests we better look to one of our own. Debra Medina fits that bill and I’ve spent enough time with her to know she is the real deal. She is fearless and has the integrity, knowledge and values essential for public office but missing in action today.
I am not alone in my fondness for Debra Medina. I have been watching her facebook supporter counts grow by a hundred every day - amazing. Rick Perry literally has over a hundred times the money as the Medina campaign and even with paid staff it seems money isn’t buying him any new friends on facebook – how can you not laugh at that. Maybe, just maybe, our future is not lost.

I've never believed that KBH has the fire in her belly to do what it takes to win the governorship. Saying she was going to resign for months and then hedging her bets by waiting until after the primary shows neither leadership nor the will to win.
It is nice, however, that the Republicans are spending their money in this wasteful way.
