Fired, Publicly
As a consultant for campaigns in Texas and across the country, I have conceded elections on live TV. Republicans have held press conferences to denounce my hiring, and their lawyers have second-guessed my decisions under oath in a deposition. But none of these trials has struck me quite as strangely as reading about myself getting fired by a campaign.
I have read the news of the firings of countless colleagues over the years, and whether my reaction was Schaedenfreude or sympathy, one thought was always there: Thank God that poor bastard wasn’t me. Then I was that poor bastard ...

Well hell Jason, I didn't call to commiserate because I thought you got the better end of the deal. Don't you think that the captain of the Titanic, upon reflection, would have preferred to have been let go at the dock before the ship shoved off?

Yeah, but what happened, yo, we want the skinny!

The real shocker is that a Liberal politico like Jason has so many sympathetic buddies in the Liberal media, like the Texas Tribune.
This only further confirms the cozy relationship between democrats and their media mouth pieces.
Would Evan Smith and the Trib have offered up a guest column spot to a fired Conservative consultant? Or ANY Conservative for that matter?
Until they do, we'll just assume the answer is No.

RobbieC: gosh, you only had one wish and you blew it on this? The Trib has already published a guest column by Ted Delisi, so that blows your theory. Unless you're now going to claim Ted is a tax-and-spend liberal, in your attempt to avoid admitting that you don't know WTF you're talking about?
Robbie Cooper
HCook,
I simply hadn't seen the Delisi guest post yet. Though, I noticed the Trib did allow, almost immediatley for a direct rebutal (by Ed Martin) to the ONLY piece authored by a Conservative (thanks for pointing out the ONLY one on the site, buried beneath a boat load writen by Liberals).
Funny how the Trib hasn't found a Conservative to rebut each Liberal talking point offered up.

Well, aside from the fact that political campaigns are often sort of, well, political, and your usefulness to them may not have much to do with the actual job you're doing, there's the truth that if everyone loves you all the time, you're probably not getting much done.
Besides, I've seen you stare down Russian criminals to get your staff their paychecks. This Shami (wow!) guy is an amateur compared to that.
My sympathies on your unemployment. Perhaps Gordy's Pizza is hiring?
Hang in there,
Robin
