On a day it was plagued by hackers, Back to Basics PAC still managed to release a new television ad.

The political action committee funded by Houston trial lawyer Steve Mostyn has been churning out ads attacking Gov. Rick Perry. The latest spot, called "Our Homes First," accuses Perry of diverting recovery funds intended for victims of Hurricane Ike to help repair the governor's mansion.

Shortly after the ad's release, the Perry campaign issued a statement countering the claims. The statement called the accusation false and misleading. Perry spokesman Mark Miner said the state fronted money to respond to Hurricane Ike, funds that were later reimbursed by federal disaster aid, replenishing the state general revenue fund. The Legislature then appropriated money from general revenue to repair the Governor's Mansion after it fell victim to arson in June 2008.
