Dems Losing Hold in Apparent Republican Sweep
In what's becoming an increasingly obvious Republican sweep in the Texas House, 22 Democratic incumbents are behind in their races.
Both incumbents in traditionally Democratic districts and so-called WD-40s — Democrats holding office in districts considered Republican — are losing their foothold. In the WD-40 realm, Reps. Stephen Frost, Mark Homer, Jim McReynolds, and Joe Heflin are all struggling to keep up with their opponents; some are losing handily.
First term Democrats like Reps. Chris Turner, Robert Miklos, Carol Kent and Kristi Thibaut are also down at the polls — some way down, others hanging by a thread.
Meanwhile, the three Republican lawmakers who faced election-time scandals — Charles "Doc" Anderson, Linda Harper-Brown and Joe Driver — all are ahead by substantial margins.
