Liveblog: Cruz and Sadler Debate in Dallas
DALLAS — It was a debate between two lawyers, and it often felt like one.
Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Paul Sadler, candidates for U.S. Senate, took turns treating each other like hostile witnesses during a tense hour at WFAA-TV studios in Dallas on Tuesday night.
More often, it was Sadler furiously trying to pin down Cruz on a single yes-or-no question such as whether Cruz believed Obama was a Christian or was born in the United States. Sadler would repeatedly cut Cruz off mid-sentence if Cruz didn't begin his response with "yes" or "no." Each time, Cruz survived ...

Watched all of the debate and I think Paul Sadler is the best one to be our Senator.

Sadler was rude, arrogant, blustering. Anytime one of his liberal policies was exposed he would interrupt, lie and filibuster. He is a political prostitute who supports higher taxes, Obama's policies and opposes our gun rights. He is unfit to hold any office.

Ted Cruz never answers questions because he knows if he did he would lose the election .
He is just another ridiculous Tea-Party candidate and if that is what Texas is foolish enough to want -- so be it.
Actually, Texas is in such a mess right now I do not believe electing anyone will make a difference. Elect a Democrat now and he would be cleaning up the Republicans mess for years to come.
Let the Republicans continue to run this state into the ground and then maybe we can put them all on a train to hell. It is enought right now that our current President is mired in the Re'Thugs last Republican Presidents actions. G W Bush put all the wars, everything he could, on the Governments credit card. About five trillion dollars.
Now, these same Republicans spenders from hell are blaming all our troubles on Barack Obama. So, what else is new? Donald Baker refers to Paul Sadler as a political prostitute.
He is one himself. And that is nothing new either.

Once again the comments on TT confirm that the only group less informed than Texas GOP voters, are Texas Democratic voters.
I actually came across the debate by accident flipping channels. Neither candidate answered questions. Both candidates were combative and insulting. Cruz latched on to every talking point that makes the Texas GOP the laughing stock of the nation. Sen Hutchinson is one of the few Texas politicians that doesn't make me cringe when she speaks, and the Texas GOP made a mistake in not providing her more support in her bid for Governor. It is a shame that her potential replacement seems to be more interested in tough talking rhetoric that does nothing to solve our nation's immense problems than he is in discussing the tough conversations we should be having. Mr. Cruz actually had some flashes of sanity where it was obvious he has a clear understanding of some of the problems, but as long as he continues to espouse the talking points of the right-wing fringe, he doesn't have my vote. I'm looking for statesmanlike conduct in my elected officials. Petulant children in a sandbox are what is causing Congressional dysfunction. We need to be sending some grown-ups to Congress to re-direct the children.

Help me out here. Ted Cruz is a CANADIAN. Born in Canada. What God Fearing Texan would want a Canadian to represent us. He doesn't understand our culture. Oh he may have the TeaParty rhetoric down to a tee but man.... He's a Canadian, a wolf in sheeps clothing and this will come back to haunt us. And yes it does matter. He might as well be a Yankee. I bet he thinks our Texas Flag is suppose to be flown lower than the US.

TO Mr. Donald Baker. Paul Sadler is a hunter. He stood up on stage and spouted off how many shotguns, rifles, and pistols he has. What he likes to hunt and what he just got through hunting. Mr. Sadler point blank asked Mr. (Im a Canadian) Cruz what he likes to hunt. Cruz IMMEDIATELY tried to change the subject to immigration. He couldn't even answer if he had a gun or not. Then miraculously the next day Cruz is photographed holding a .357 magnum. I would like to see the papers on that gun, cause it sure isn't his. Cruz is the one to watch. He talks "right" but his thinking is Canadian.
