Video: Who Pays For Perry's Travel?
Gov. Rick Perry is a frequent traveler, whether it's to sell Texas as a business-friendly state, to promote his book or to carry out his duties as chairman of the Republican Governors Association. But as his national name recognition grows, so does the cost of his travel. How much is all this costing taxpayers?

Travel costs not available until after the Presidential election. Sweet deal for perry while we are losing teachers and cutting public employees.

Shouldn't everyone holding a public office be required to fund their own travel expenses while off promoting themselves and not the taxpayers? Can we just put an end to Perry, who is just another bad governor? He hasn't been good for Texas and he won't be good for the United States. When is anyone going to expose his gay relationships, like the current one with one of the Chefs on the Mansions payroll?

The same question can be asked about President Obama.

Barry how does Perry traveling to other states where he has no jurisdiction compare to the President traveling around the country in which he is Chief Executor?

He said he had a REALLY BIG pulpit . . . I guess he meant it! ;~p

If I were to hire a public speaker that required extra security it would be part of the cost I would have to pay to have that speaker. Why is the Governor any different if an organization wants him to attend a meeting and it is not part of State business, why aren't we reimbursed by the organization that is sponsoring the event?

Too damn much!

Why Peter? What's idiotic about it. Our president travels around the world to promote our nation's interests, doesn't he? Can't the same be said about our governor traveling throughout the country to promote Texas interests? Bob, what exactly is a Chief Executor? Look, I'm no huge Perry fan. After all, I threw up after voting for him again. However, I'm just saying that when it comes to any kind of waste or abuse of tax dollars, we need to be fair in pointing out the fact that the First Family is quite conspicuous in their consumption of tax dollars. So, if it's okay for them, why wouldn't it be okay for our governor?

Bob, that's a fair point. Therefore, we need some kind of standard to determine what is and isn't Texas business. For example, if he goes to California to bring jobs to Texas, would that be considered legitimate Texas business? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=82879

Well, if watched the video it said when he flies on charters either his campaign or donors foot the bill. Those would be the ones, Barry.

And why would you vote for someone that caused you to vomit afterwards? I can say I have been disappointed in the actions of people I voted for after I voted for them. But i have never voted for someone that made me violently ill especially not just in the act of voting.
Barry Kowald via Texas Tribune on Facebook
I didn't really vomit. I was just being silly. I voted for what I considered to be the better of the two options. Economically, we are doing better than most states.
Bob Brown via Texas Tribune on Facebook
The state is doing better the people are not.

Bob, I like your candor and good will. Thanks for the responses.

Is this some of the coverage paid for by the Soros "Open Society" project, http://www.soros.org/ ? What's $150,000 buy, these days?

Some folks in TX are doing better than those in other states. I'm afraid that's about to change after Perry and his gang of merry thieves have their way. IF he were out and about promoting TX, I wouldn't mind so much. But he's promoting himself and TX is an afterthought, or just one of those things he HAS to do to be able to do what he wants, which is to promote himself and his agenda. I don't think the Obamas have come close to spending as much time away from DC as the prior Pres did.

To much, but he don't give a damn.

Oh please, how very trivial. A drop in the bucket. All politicians travel. Politicians need security. Get over it. You Perry-haters are a really trivial bunch.
Native Texan
You liberal Perry-haters would be here criticizing any conservative governor. Wouldn't matter who it was or what they did. It would never be right for you. Wouldn't you be happier living in a more liberal state? Texas is conservative. We'd be happy to pay for your moving expenses if you would all like to move on out of Texas. Liberalism/progressivism/socialism just isn't the spirit of the Lone Star State. Democrats of the past were actually conservative in nature. Today's Democrats are basically socialists in love with Western Europe.

Me Liberal? Perry is a Demo in sheeps clothing bud.....he really likes Gore
