Video: On Fox, Perry Compares Himself to a "Prophet"
Gov. Rick Perry is a sought-after man these days, with every news outlet trying to pin him down on whether he's running for president.
The governor kept his critics and supporters guessing Tuesday night during double appearances on Fox News' Your World with Cavuto and Fox Business' The Willis Report. When asked by Cavuto about his plans, Perry responded, "I'm not sure you have to make a decision in a month. I'd hate to be pointing to a time specific." The three-term governor also addressed the Lone Star State's business credentials, Weinergate, Hispanic voters, abortion politics ...

Think "Prophetic." That way it's a really short leap to "Pathetic."

Hmmm, sure that wasn't spelled profit?

Egomaniac much?

still like "swaggering rooster" but "Prophet of Doom" for anything he touches would fit.

He's going to sink when he tries walking on water.

If he was actually doing his job well he would be loved in his hometown. I don't see how this statement is supposed to make him look better.
Evan Mintz via Texas Tribune on Facebook
So when do we crucify him?
Kathy Kilmer Moak via Texas Tribune on Facebook
The arrogance of this guy is mind-numbing.
Stephen Pollard via Texas Tribune on Facebook
What a numbskull!
Jeremy M. Prince via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Yes, it's because those of us in Perry's "hometown" know him well enough to know he is a false prophet.
Bob Brown via Texas Tribune on Facebook
His problem as I see it is he won't be able to campaign like he has in the past. He could avoid the media and debates in Texas. Also, although it was easy for him to avoid Texas in the gubernertorial race. It will be hard to run a national race from outside the country.
David Huang via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Do you believe the big fucking ego on this guy? Ughhhhh.
Cody Pogue via Texas Tribune on Facebook
If Perry runs, I wonder whether he will participate in debates or duck out like he did to Bill White.
Jennifer Cannon via Texas Tribune on Facebook
The TT is so liberal I am unlike your page.

Ugggh from this Texas Conservative.

"..both biblical and practical..." Too bad never saw fit to debate in any of the last gubernatorial debates, any one of the three, so he could have explained his campaign ads claiming, "We balanced the budget."

I know he's an Aggie, but could he at least use proper grammar? If it's "prophet", it should be "his" hometown.

Governor, ignore the idiots on this commentary. Run and save us from these morons! A true conservative is desperately needed in this country. If you don't run, lead us to secession!

His visions of grandeur will be dashed if he ever decides to run.

What? I never heard what church he belongs? Does he tithe there? Just wondering!
Ann Pittman-Thompson via Texas Tribune on Facebook
Attends a church in west Austin and gives very little according to an article in the weekend Houston Chronicle. He's all bravado. Since he was a poultry science major at A&M I like the swaggering rooster comment above!! Guess that's where he learned about roosters!!!

George W. Bush is the one and only god, and Rick Perry is his Prophet.
Wilkins Micawber
I think he said "profit."
So Fox has launched His campaign. That blonde fox could barely keep her hands off of Him.
It is amusing to watch the wheels turn in His head, as He scrambles to find the talking point that can be attached the the question. As for instance, when the question about the role of the Fed (as in Federal Reserve) morphed in Perry's razor-sharp mind into "the Feds".
The hypocrisy and inconsistency of the man is breath-taking, but not nearly so breath-taking as the numbers of boobs who will flock to Him as their sage and savior. Folksy, anti-intellectual, and ambitious. It has worked before, and it will work again.
As Mencken said, you can never underestimate the intelligence of the booboisie.

Well, that's certainly the truth in this case!
CARLTON BURTON
Does Perry intend to run for President of the United States of America(USA) ,or President of the United Southern States of America (USSA).Sounds more like USSR to me. By the way, did the southern borders develop ALL these leaks since OBAMA became President ,or were they there all along? Pray tell
d f
Wow! What an arrogant bully! Just proves it is never wise to give too much power to Republicans.
Rudy Gonzales
Compare him to Palin! She's in it for the money. She's running to get more money and get richer! I'll bet Perry is a millionaire! Wait! He is a millionaire. On the taxpayers quarter! It's been said, "One can get rich, running for president"! One can get rich running for office! There are too many getting rich off the dole of taxpayer monies. The list is long and enlightening. Career politicians like Rick Perry and Newton Gingrich to Sarah Palin brings to mind - "Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed and often" - Jim Hightower.
Native Texan
@RudyGonzales,
I don't see any rich Democrats in your list of names. There are plenty of rich Democrats who are career politicians. The headline on Drudge right now is how Nancy Pelosi's personal wealth increased by 62% this past year. She has $42 million in assets. Wonder when exactly she intends to "redistribute" that wealth?
@d f,
Exactly how is Rick Perry an arrogant bully? Can you give us some factual specifics please? As to giving power to Republicans, tell us how exactly you have been helped by Democrats in the last few years? They have been in power since 2006, and the economy is in the tank.
@Carlton Burton,
Precisely why does Rick Perry sound to you like the president of the USSR? Hmmm? You are implying he is a dictator. The dictators are the Democrats who tax us to death and regulate us to death and try to make our decisions for us from cradle to grave. THAT, sir, is tyranny.
@Wilkins Micawber,
Do you not think that wheels turn in the head of every politician? There is nothing wrong with "folksy." Perhaps you are too superior for us Texas hayseeds.
@Terri Russo,
The headline is deceiving. He was not calling himself a literal prophet. He was making a biblical reference that people use all the time. I assure you he is not disrespectful to Christianity.
And to the rest of you,
You are clearly liberals who hate Rick Perry. Be comforted with the idea that as a conservative, I cannot stand your politicians either.
Robi Polgar via Texas Tribune on Facebook
"The Prophet"..."their hometown" For goodness sake, the ur-deity can't speak his native language! Unless, of course, he's got multiple personalities: Discuss.

Rarely do I watch television, but I found the interviews interesting. I am not a fan of Gov. Perry beginning with the methodology of the Trans Texas Corridor fiasco (not the idea). I do not see how another Texan can be president this soon after the much maligned GWB. However, I still am mystified that Obama with his wealth of inexperience and lack of verifiable credentials could be elected. So, if you have money in high places and a sympathetic, read highly biased, media you can do anything. Gov. Perry will not have the latter and even this Texas Tribune demonstrates.
